5/26 Toeby AMPS 223, +2 97, +3 56, +3.5 56, +4 49, +4.5 67, +5 74, +5.5 113, PMPS 295, +2 178 +3 266

+2 97
Gave him an ounce of Wellness kitten chicken pate with his test, which he polished off quite quickly

+3 56
I was supposed to have posted the +2, but looks like I may have forgotten to hit "post" (:banghead:) Oops
Maybe the green got me all worked up?
Gave him another ounce of kitten food.
I'm hitting "post"this time for sure...

I note that on April 29th he went below 50 after a +3 of 63....
Would it be good to give him some slightly higher carb food, or maybe a few kernels of dry Dr. Elsey's at this point, before testing again?
Or, just hang in there with the lower carb food, making sure he eats?
He hasn't had dry Dr. Elsey's in ages... a couple weeks for sure.
I just don't want to screw up a good drop...

Do you have MC available IF you need it (I'm not saying use it)? When would you say Toeby's nadir is? I thought maybe at +4 but I am not very good at determining the nadir.

Yes, I do...
And I think his nadir is +4 as well... just judging from his spreadsheet.
He seems to drop early and quickly.

Can you get another test now at +3.5? We need to know how fast, or if, he is continuing to drop. Also, update your thread like this ?, 5/26, Toeby, Need Advice. Just a suggestion. I'm not telling you what to do. I always get a little nervous when a cat hits the 50s

+4 was 2.7 mmol/L, which shows as still a "good green" on the World spreadsheet, but which is 49 mg/dL, or a "bad green" on the US spreadsheet

So, I'm not sure if it's good or bad...
I thought it was good until I did the conversion.
Regardless, I gave him another snack and will give him a bit of higher carb food.
And test again shortly.

Maybe because he was so close to 50 you won't have to reduce (unless he continues to drop). Plus it was around his nadir time so maybe he will start going up anyway. I am not supposed to be giving any kind of advice so if you have a question you probably should tag someone.

+ 5.5 is 113

I am going to stop sticking him now...
Summer I only ask the question because I am hoping ANY of the other one of the "international" users, who commonly use mmol/L can give their 2 cents worth on the spreadsheet.
2.8 mmol/L is actually 50 mg/dL so I might have set up the dark green range on the spreadsheet as 2.8- 5.5, not 2.7 - 5.5, but hey, it's not my spreadsheet - I am just grateful to use it.

I think @Christie & Maverick are but I am not sure. Maybe they can help.

PMPS 295
I am going to go ahead and give him the same dose as this morning, 0.50 units.
When I read the general TR guidelines, I think it says he has to drop below 50, or 2.8, three times before I reduce the dose by 0.25 units??
If I could get confirmation on that it would be great.
Tagging @Bron and Sheba (GA) in addition to the people who Summer already tagged above, Bhooma and Christie.

I am a bit curious as to why the World page and the US page on my spreadsheets are not the same colour for 49 or 2.7 ?
The only reason I noticed is I told my husband he had slid into the neon greens, and he looked at my spreadsheet, and said no, he's still forest green... and he was right.
He was neon on one page, and forest green on the other.
It may be a spreadsheet formula thing, I dunno, and it doesn't really matter, as long as I follow one or the other consistently.
Thanks!
Laura for Mr. Toeby

There's something off with the world SS, reference range for green should be 2.8-5.5, followed by lime <2.8. I think Bhooma can fix that for you, as well as how the cells get coloured. I had a similar problem a few times when I kept switching between human and original pet meter . While I could change the reference range myself, I wasn't sure of the fancy magic to do the right colour-coding, so Marje had to fix my SS.

Nice run today :D

Evening +2 178
This reading surprised me - it's a fairly sizable drop in the evening, which is unusual for him.
I gave him a tablespoon of what I think is medium carb food - Fancy Feast Chicken Feast in Gravy - Grilled - I thought originally anything in gravy was high carb, but Dr. Pierson's chart shows this as being 12% carbs.
I think medium carb is 10-17%, so it would be considered medium carb.
If I am wrong on any of this, please do let me know.

@Bandit's Mom, if you can help me fix my spreadsheet so my World page has the right colours for the 2.8-5.5 and the <2.8 range, as Christie suggested above, that would be fantastic.
Thanks @Christie & Maverick for the supportive words on his BG's today.

I will post again if his BG's stay low...
Laura

Hi Laura. Lovely run of greens today for Toeby.
I’m glad you didn’t increase the other day but waited the 10 cycles.
Technically he’s under a year since diagnosis so would have earned a reduction in dose. But because he’s been in remission, I’m not sure if that makes a difference. I’ll tag @Wendy&Neko to clarify that.

That is a big drop at +2 in pm cycle. Looks like he’s going to have another active cycle so get ready for a pyjama party. I’d get a +3

+3 266

Hmmmm... Okay, now I KNOW that it's a full moon out there tonight, but really, Toeby?
Are you having me on?
Maybe he is really carb sensitive and that spoonful of the grilled Fancy Feast boosted him up quickly.
If that's the case, that's good to know for future reference.
I will check him again at +4
He seems to be feeling fine.

+4 306
I think I ran out of room in my thread title...
But it appears his BG's are up for the duration and so now to see what tomorrow brings.

We generally try to make it harder to earn reductions for a cat that is returning from remission. You could also look at his history and say he's one who doesn't hold reductions well. I might try for 3 times betweeen 40 and 49 on separate days (or 1 time below 40), before giving a reduction. The sooner you can get Toeby regulated again, the greater the odds of a second remission.
