Hey everyone, i need your help. I thought I’d be so excited to see this day come but now I am actually terrified. My cat Jimmy have been diagnosed with diabetes on the 7/04/2021 he is on 1u Prozinc and eat Low carbs wet food (RawZ). I noticed at the end of last week that he was requesting food 4 hour after his insulin shot which is usually his nadir. I have to admit that I do not test him every time I shot because it’s so new to him and I and it’s taking me some time to adjust. On Saturday evening I had just finished work and I was curious to know his # because I thought if he really want food during his Nadir it’s probably because it’s getting low and maybe too low. I had 8.9 on the Alphatrack. I decided to give him half a shot because I did not felt confortable with 1U with those #. The next morning He tested at 8.2 so again I gave him only half of a unit of Prozinc. At night his preshot was 7.7 so i decided to skip it because it was too low and I knew I wouldn’t be up if there was any type of emergency. This morning i wake up thinking the # would be higher because of the no shot but he tested 6.2 !?? I am at lost I guess I won’t give him insulin this morning either. Is that the right thing to do? I would go to the vet but it was closed on Sunday and today is a holiday in Canada so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I’m just so nervous that if I shot he is going to be in hypo.... As I said at first I thought being in the green would make me so happy but instead I am stressed and so scared and don’t know how to handle this... Can someone please help and tell me with those # what I should do with his shot until I talk to the vet?
Thank you everyone!!!
I will join his spreadsheet but it’s far as being as complete as you guys but at least it will give some data over the last couple days and I will from now on start testing everyday that is for sure.
