Hello as you can see I am not new to Feline diabetes but I am new to SLGS. Really want to keep my boy with flat numbers. As he's 18 years old I don't want him bouncing so much as it just makes him feel lousy. My aim is not to get him OTJ, at this point I just want him comfortable. We've had a few bounces here, Would really appreciate some extra eyes on his spreadsheet with some dosing advice as the 27 the other night was quite scary but It was managed and then came the expected bounce and another bounce 6 cycles after his reduction. Losing it over here! I am very consistent with food and any factors that may impact him. Wondering if i should go to .75? Or is it too soon? Thanks so much.

Hi! Welcome back - just linking to your last thread for continuity - https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/1-9-squirrel-pmps-142-slgs-dosing.241261/

On SLGS, you take a 0.25u dose reduction any time Squirrel goes <90. Here's the dosing method link for reference.

I personally would not decrease. On SLGS you hold the dose for 7 days (14 cycles) - unless a reduction is earned - and then you evaluate the dose. On SLGS you want to see nadirs between 90 and 149. If at any point Squirrel goes below 90, you take the 0.25u reduction at the next shot and then hold that dose for a week (unless of course another reduction is earned).

Hope that helps a little bit - looking back at your SS, you should have taking a dose reduction per SLGS on 05/05, i.e. the first time Squirrel was <90. I see Elise @tiffmaxee stopped by back in January so perhaps she can swing by again too :bighug:

@JaxBenji thank you for your input and clarification! Do you think he's still clearing that bounce from when he dropped to 27 or could he have bounced again off one unit last night? He's really keeping me on my toes! The old boy is giving me more gray hair than needed!.

Also, I'm not the most tech savvy here, But when I try to add today's numbers to his spreadsheet I'm not able as it says view only. For now I will post them like this.

Amps 435
+3 327
+6 301
+9 227

hoping that you all can view it
Yay, I can see all the numbers! I think sometimes Google gets locked up on people...I'm not sure lol.

Do you think he's still clearing that bounce from when he dropped to 27 or could he have bounced again off one unit last night?
So, I'll qualify this with I'm not the most experienced SS reader but no, I don't think he's bouncing from the 27 still (bounces generally clear in 3 days (6 cycles). It is possible he went lower than the 179 last night... I saw @Wendy&Neko on earlier so maybe she can chime in.

I know you've been at this dance awhile and clearly love your Squirrel but I'd just hold the 1u unless you see a number less than 90 (in which case you would decrease to 0.75). If you need to increase, you can after 7 days on 1u.

At this point, 1.25 unit has proven it's too much insulin. I'd hold this dose 7 days as per SLGS.

@JaxBenji @Wendy&Neko
thank you so much for your input! Yes he must have gone much lower last night. Will hold dose at one unit and keep on updating his spreadsheet.

I feel a few sleepless nights coming on but I’ve been dealing with this for a while. He is well worth it, and there’s always coffee! Thanks again
