PMPS is 7.1 mmol/L (127/mg/dl)

He is flat. Which is good. We want him at these numbers. Another spoon of the FF Pate. He should start heading up after this.
I just posted that i feed Milo a TSP of Gravy Lovers chicken Feast in Grilled. Don't know if you saw that.
Another spoon of the FF Pate also? When to test again?

No. I didn't see that you added that to the post. That should send him zooming up now.
You can test him now and see.
+ 5 @ 6.0 Yay!

Yes, it's safe to go to bed and I'll do the SS for you. Don't worry about it.

Down to 2U at 10:45am tomorrow. I hope you're able to sleep in! :-)

Hi Mariaanna - when you log on today (after hopefully some sleeeeeep!), let me know on your new condo what food you have and I'll help track down the % carbs of total calories. Note for Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers, Beef is the only high carb flavor (at 20%...and FWIW it also looks disgusting lol but my cat loved it :p). I'm not sure where you are located but I started my MC/HC stash with the poultry and beef variety pack of the Gravy Lovers flavors - link.

For reference,
Low Carb (LC) 0-10%
Medium Carb (MC) 11-15%
High Carb (HC) >15%

Good luck with the reduction :cat:

Hi Susanne,
Sorry for not responding sooner.. a busy day with family. Here is a list of what canned cat food
i feed Milo:
FF Pate's : Turkey Liver & Chicken Feast/ Beef Flavor Feast /Salmon & Shrimp Feast/

* Occasionally Friskies Pate's * I have several cans left before his diabetes diagnosis and i know that
they are pretty low carb: Friskies Chef Dinner/Chicken Dinner/ and also 3 flavours of of seafood Dinners:
Friskies: Salmon Dinner / Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Dinner / Seafood Supreme/ > only feed him these 3 maybe
once a week.or less. Seafood supposedly not good for cats..?

DM/ ProPlan Veterinary Diets Pate. Once in a while.(a few cans left since his diagnosis)
I have only 2 flavours of FF with" higher" carbs/calories:
FF Gravy Lovers Chicken Feast in Grilled and FF Turkey Feast in Gravy Grilled.
I learned from Bhooma that these are not HC foods but MC.
Unfortunately i cant find the FF cans of FF Gravy Lovers Beef and Chicken. Looked on Amazon.ca
and Walmart.
Sorry for this long" Novel " i am so very grateful for you helping me out with what foods are HC/MC/and LC.
Thank You.

Okay - so for Fancy Feast and Friskies, I personally just go off the food list - I am not sure anyone has asked for more recent data to recalculate carbs but if they varied much from the food list, I think people on FDMB would know since so many people feed these brands :) Some brands (Wellness, Weruva, Koha, and others) post nutrition information publicly and we can then use it to calculate the % of calories that are carbs which is nice since formulas do change from time to time. In any case - I tried to look up the foods you listed (things get interesting with the Friskies flavors...).

FF Pate's
Turkey Liver & Chicken Feast - (I think your mean Tender Liver & Chicken Feast?) - 2% (low carb)
Beef Flavor Feast - 3% (low carb)
Salmon & Shrimp Feast - 1% (low carb)

Friskies
Chef Dinner/Chicken Dinner/Salmon Dinner / Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Dinner / Seafood Supreme

So for all of these I couldn't find them in the U.S. (and thus not on the food chart). I'm not exactly sure of their U.S. equivalent but based on ingredients I'd guess it's the Friskies Indoor line, all of which are high carb per the food chart. Please note that I did read the ingredients for all of the flavors you listed (I used renspets.com) and they all included rice...so they likely not low carb even if they don't match up to the Friskies Indoor line (personally, I'd probably donate these if you can't determine the % carbs).

Others
DM/ ProPlan Veterinary Diets Pate - 6% //this is considered low carb (but not worth the price tag if you ask folks around here :)
FF Gravy Lovers Chicken Feast in Grilled - 15% (medium carb)
FF Turkey Feast in Gravy Grilled - 13% (medium carb)

*as for your question on seafood, each caregiver needs to decide for themselves - per Dr. Pierson of catinfo.org "Fish can be high in mercury, high in PBDEs (fire retardant chemicals linked to hyperthyroidism), high in phosphorus (not good for older cats’ kidneys) and can be very addicting. It is best to feed poultry-based diets to cats." She also says, "If you want to feed a fish-based food as a treat, please limit it to once or twice a week." FWIW, I didn't know any of this about fish and cats before joining FDMB.

Sorry you can't find the Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Beef...I imagine they are still having supply chain issues due to covid. I do know a few Canadians use Weruva for high carb (and Weruva has lots of medium carb options too). Of course these are more pricey than FF and Friskies but you won't use them as much and can freeze leftovers in an ice cube tray - below are two high carb flavors - these are links to the Ren's Pets site (I just got sucked in there when looking for Canadian Friskies :p) - I'm sure you can also find these elsewhere (e.g., Petco if you are near one)

Weruva - Funky Chicken Soup (20%)
Weruva - Grandma's Chicken Soup (21%)

Hope that helps and hope you and Milo are doing okay :bighug:
