We skipped his shot last night since he isn’t wanting to eat much. Still willing to be hand fed and willing to eat his gastro kibble...so kibble it is  Not a bad AMPS given the skip last night.

This morning, he ate 30 pieces of kibble, so we have him his shot (1.25, a reduction), and about an hour later he ate about 1/2 of his wet food breakfast before heading for a nap...so that’s good.

We will be watching him closely today and seeing if we can get generic zofran for him at the vet.

I'm sorry Cosmo is not feeling well.:bighug: Generic ondansetron works really well for Butters. I hope it works well for Cosmo, too. I had to get a prescription and fill it the pharmacy. Maybe that was just that particular vet who didn't carry it, though.

Off to the vet to see if we can get some zofran or see about his tummy. Bringing Cosmo, since he has never needed the med before. He did eat another 15-20 pieces of kibble and drank some water at +2.

Here I have to get a script from the vet and take it to a human pharmacy. Do shop around on pricing, I've seen as much as a $1.50 price difference - per pill! Not all pharmacies have it in stock, but most can get it next day.

Not a bad start to the day, good to hear he is eating something.

We wanted to do his old man blood panel this month anyway, so he’s getting some blood drawn too. They squeezed him in today, so he is going to be tended to in between patients.

Update: Cosmo is still at the vet and the blood and urine results are in. I don’t have a copy just yet, but it was really good news!

Urine levels, concentration and pH normal. No glucose in the Urine!!!!! Yay!

Blood work good, except his SDMA is a bit elevated. Normal is 0-14, and his was 17. He was a little dehydrated, so this could be the reason. He got some fluids while there. We will monitor this level in a month.

Since Cosmo has been going on some leash walks and eating grass, they want to run a parasite test to make sure he hasn’t ingested anything.

If that is clear, we will give him a probiotic and maybe cerenia. The vet felt that zofran was a little too strong for him at this time.

A pretty good report!

Good to hear he's home, b/w and urinalysis not bad.

Huh? I don't understand that statement. Other than it can have a side of effect of constipation which would not be good. The probiotic will help.

Yeah, I’m not sure. She said it is used for those undergoing chemo, vomiting or CKD appetite issues. Since he isn’t vomiting, she felt it was too strong for his current state. The potential gastrointestinal side effect was mentioned too.

Cerenia is used for vomiting, ondansetron is used for nausea. Add for kitties with pancreatitis or other GI issues to the list. And I used it successfully (with internal medicine vet approval) for Neko's nausea caused by heart issues. If he's eating, maybe nausea is not the issue.

He is sort of eating...willing to be hand fed, but not really taking the initiative yesterday and today. If he doesn’t improve with the probiotic, I may push the ondansetron issue more.
