Previous day's thread: https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...416-pmps-403-2-383-4-328.247072/#post-2786738

I feel this morning is decision time for changing Toeby's dose given his last 3 days of high numbers.

I am going to stick with the 0.10 unit dose this morning because:
a) His preshot of 302 is similar to May 4th, the last day he dropped into the greens
b) @Wendy&Neko suggested he might break the bounce today, and if not, then I should increase (at least that is how I understood you, Wendy)
c) I am trying to be patient... I am not sure if that is what I am supposed to do on TR, or if I am supposed to act more aggressively, but regardless - I am going to stick to 0.10 this morning.

If he doesn't have better readings today, I will increase his dose tonight.
And that's that!
(Until I change my mind... LOL)

+2 214

He's been snacking on his leftover breakfast on his own, but I gave him a snack of canned Wellness kitten pate when I tested at +2
I am hoping this yellow number is a good sign for things to come today.

@Bron and Sheba (GA) Hi Bron - always nice to hear from you.
How dare you have something else to do than monitor this thread? ;) (that's sarcasm)

I guess it's as good a time as any for Toeby to need monitoring closely.
Yesterday we had the highest Covid numbers ever, another death, and today won't be much better.
We're under continued lockdown with instructions not to leave our community, with only essential shopping open.
Our vet had a staff member test positive - so protocol there is tighter than ever.
Government is still supporting socially distanced outdoor recreation in very small groups, so I do, and will, get outside when I can, for sunshine and socializing with my bubble.
But not today, and probably not tomorrow... it's raining.
And this is why we have Netflix... :)

Gave him another snack of canned Wellness kitten with this test

+4 148
Gave him more canned Wellness kitten with test...
Having to wake him up from napping on the spare bed for these tests

Good call holding on the dose in a bounce breaking cycle. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he has greens in him at this dose, at this time.

Thanks Wendy - it felt like the safe call.
So, he is slightly higher again at +5... I think he's on the swing back up, but I can test him at +6 if that's a good idea, or just let him sleep.

Question is... what to do tonight? Hold and see if stays in the blues and hope for greens?
Or, make that increase to 0.25 and see what happens?

+6 185
Okay!
That's it!... I'm leaving him alone until shot time tonight - I find I get obsessed with wondering what he's doing.
Whatever he does between now and 6 hours from now is going to remain a mystery.

@Bron and Sheba (GA) or @Wendy&Neko or anyone - any guidance for this evening?
Do today's blue numbers mean he might do just as good or better on the same dose?
Or do I take this as a sign that he is over the bounce, but 0.10 is not enough insulin to get him into greens?
I don't mind being patient and staying the course for another cycle...

We hold doses with nadirs under 200 for 6-10 cycles. I used to hold longer for low blue nadirs, less for high blue. You've been at this 8 cycles, I don't think you are going to see better. So I'd increase.

Thanks, I suspected that would be the answer.
I feel good about it... I will increase to 0.25 tonight and monitor him.

+2 his BG has gone up slightly to 353
He's being fussy now - turning up his nose at FF for snacks, and Purebites freeze dried turkey.
I'll wait to see if he'll eat a snack at his next test.

+3 355
Note, I gave him his Budesonide in tablet form tonight, not a chew (in the event the chew might bump up his BGs)
He did eat some of the low carb FF as a snack this hour
Note, he's had no Dr. Elseys today.
So, I presume this high BG response is not food related, it's either a response to the lows he had earlier today?
Or maybe the Budesonide increases BG's immediately after it is taken? - but he is doing well on it as far as controlling vomiting and stool problems.

He’s probably also bouncing from that lovely run of blue numbers this morning.

Good.
That's where I was going with my "response to the lows he had earlier today" Haha - it's amazing how seeing the word "lovely" in your response cheers me right up.
I was hoping that might be the case. YAy!!!!
Paws crossed for a good day today.

Oh, Happy Mothers Day!
