i have googled this, but i cant find clear evidence. Could you people share your experience? i may want Monkey to participate in more physical exercise if it helps.

Hi Peter. The only exercise our cats get is playing with a laser pointer. They're all indoor cats, too much traffic here to even let them into the back yard.

I try to engage my cats in 10 minutes of running around a day, whether it's with a laser pointer or with a piece of string that I drag around for them to chase. They love it. I'm not sure the effect it has on Ruby's glucose but I think it improves her quality of life overall regardless. Exercise releases endorphins, and I assume that it makes kitties as happy as it does humans. :)

The best thing about toys that get cats moving? The cheaper the better.
That $30 remote control mouse did nothing, behind our armoire are dozens of bottle caps, pizza crusts etc. The $2 laser beats all.

I can't get my fat cat to run for anything except FOOD! I don't know what to do. Throw him in the pool and make him swim? lol Of course I would NEVER do that! Talk about stressing him out and raising his BG! lol

depends how big the fish is.

I heard one person who tossed a piece of chicken down the stairs in her house so the cat would go down to get it...then have to climb back up the stairs for another piece....then back down again...up/down/up/down....LOL

Have you ever tried "Da Bird"? China wouldn't play with anything else but boy did she like that! Something about the noise it makes sounds like a fluttering bird and she couldn't resist.

Oh that's a GREAT idea! I don't have stairs but I could throw some venison (he goes crazy) down the hall into the kitchen then coax him back and forth. lol

my son and I would sit on either end of the hallway and have CC go back and forth to get a piece of Pure Bites. hahahaha

That is what I do. I throw a piece of meat across the yard and Phoenix runs to get it. Sometimes he can't find it in the grass and has to spend time searching for it. If he is outside, he will walk around for a little while and then lay down and sleep. I make sure he gets at least 30 minutes of activity running for treats every day.
For some reason, he loves it when I sing and dance to songs on the radio. He will chase me around the house until we get tired.
