Darcy's appetite still isn't what I had hoped it would be. I'll give him fluids in a minute and see if it helps. Gave Cerenia and Ondansetron just in case. He is eating on his own, but not a lot. I won't give high phosphorus foods at this time. I've ordered Niacinamide and will start him on that. He has a re-check at the vet next week. I hope we didn't discontinue the IV fluids prematurely. He is wanting to get out of his isolation room though so that's a good sign. He is walking better, but still is not back to being fully normal with either his walking or his jumping, but he's much less down on his hocks -- so hopefully that means the phosphorus is still not going too high. Heavy Sigh.....

Is he holding out for the darcines?? Big hugs. Once you've been through these scary situations it's hard to know when things are ok.

Oh and welcome to the joys of the 0.25 dosing!

I know! I just eyeball it on the .25 -- the darcines are high in phosphorus... maybe if he eats them with a phosphate binder?

that's a pity...I was afraid there's a reason i only see people mention darcines as a treat. They DO enjoy them though. And such high calories, no carb! Though I can't say I have noticed yet if more calories = less begging.

Fingers crossed that he stays flat and blue. Flat is Minnie's theme at the moment.

If their kidneys are good... then why not? It's the little bones in there full of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus (what we all make our bones out of.) How's it going, Liz?

That reminds me I need to follow up with vet on Sam, his Health Report Card from Feb checkup says "master problem list CKD IRIS stage 2" although they have never discussed it with me. Poor little guy, getting neglected! (but oh he really likes the tiny tiger)

Oh ha, I haven't posted today....will do that now. Stuck in the yellow. Started some new test strips (exp 5/2021) from a big batch I got on ebay (my first experience buying in bulk) and they are testing +20 over the opened strips (exp 9/2022) so that's throwing me. Maybe had a blue at +3. I did some self care and went for another massage, lots of work on my back and more homework lacrosse ball exercises! Thanks for asking. How about your back - any improvement?

Yes... you have a relay coming up?? And need a Minnie sitter? I need to go get a massage. They have a new massage therapist at the chiro now. Last one was so rough that she literally made me sore for three or four days. I have never had that experience before with massage!

oooh that sounds like the right kind of massage to me...well maybe not. I don't want to be sore afterwards. I am not surprised to get enough tough love to make my face sweat or my eyes tear up!

you are a mind reader, I am writing about the sitter in my post right now!!

How is Tinkerbelle? And have the kittens got names yet??

Poor Tinkerbelle got very nicely healed up from all of her abcesses and then came down with an upper respiratory infection. She got so bad that she would not eat and I took her to the vet on Monday when I took Darcy. I have been so terrified of him getting sick. Of course, he's been quarantined in a guest bedroom and she has been quarantines elsewhere. She is starting to improve on the antibiotics. She's pretty chipper and sweet (even when she was really ill, she always got up to greet us and rub on our legs, etc. when we were in there with her.) It's been a pain in the neck to do all the change of clothing when I go in there ... because I'm trying to keep Darcy safe. So I think poor Tinkerbelle is on the mend. I wonder if she caught something because she is unvaccinated. I was letting her heal up from those bite wounds before gettinge vaccines. Fortunately, they tested her and she is FIV/FeLV negative.

I honestly don't know how you manage all this. She sounds adorable - glad to hear she is negative, and improving on the antibiotics. I'm still having nightmares about the maggots though urgghhh

Nice work Mr Darcy, keep it level. Minnie will show you how it's done.

Limbo contest!
Somehow I imagine cats would be good at this (they’re so flexible.)
