Hey everyone! Poopers has been doing much better then before all because of you guys.
His levels have been rising and i was suggested to stay at 1 unit which i have. If you look at his spreadsheet you can see that it has been going up. Nothing crazy but i was just wondering if its something i should be worrying about and if tomorrow morning i should give him 2 units instead of 1?

Unless you are testing during the cycles, we can’t say if you should increase or nor.
At the moment we have no idea if Poopers is dropping lower or too low or not dropping at all during the cycles.
I would not increase until I had some mid cycle tests done during both the cycles.

Increases should only be in 1/4 unit increments.
It is important you get tests in during the cycles as well as the preshot

Weren’t you going to look at swapping to Lantus?

 
Hi.... I’d give it a couple more days and in that time try to consistently get a mid cycle reading during the day when possible, and a before bed test in the evening. canninsulin tends to peek 4-6 hours after injection. Sometimes later. It is dose based on how low the cat goes. You cant really tell in two days if a dose is good or not especially since he may still be bouncing from that super low hypo the other day.

Hey @JanetNJ her cat is on caninsulin right now, she will be switching to Lantus :cat:

Oh wow i didnt know that :joyful:. i deleted them thanks! Poopers levels dropped a little today but i gave him Fancy Feast wet food and its already going up. Checking again in about 40 minutes

You gave insulin this morning? Yikes. when it's that low you should skip. BUT he earned another reduction. Your new dose is 0.75 Please don't shoot unless he's over about 11. If you get a preshot lower than that, stall WITHOUT FEEDING for up to an hour to see if the number is going up before shooting.

Ok will do! i will keep updating the spreadsheet and ill let you know when i test his PMPS

Hey i just updated Poopers speadsheet and his levles are pretty high. Its at 17.3mmol/L (311md/dl) How much insulin would you suggest i give. And he hasnt eaten yet! He had a snack around 3:30PM it is now 7:30PM. We have been giving him 1unit everyday

His dose now is 0.75. This is probably a bounce from going too low.
