I haven't gotten a number this low recently. What dose would y'all recommend? @Bron and Sheba (GA) @JanetNJ @Pabs&Ro

AMPS/11:05am BG 335, PMPS/11:01pm BG 134, noticed she's been at the water a lot, esp today.

I'm really hoping she doesn't get sick with pancreatitis again! Her appetite has been strong up to and including now, so that's good!

Hi Samantha, good to hear for you.
Did you stall and test again in 30 minutes?
Im really glad Aggy is eating well.
Are you still testing for ketones?
I can see you are not getting any mid cycle tests in at all lately. That makes it really difficult to help you with situations like you are in at the moment,
We don't know how low the dose is taking Aggy.

I just retested at 12:04am BG 243 (1 hour later). I will give her the 2.25u insulin. I am sorry about the lack of testing recently.

Try and get at least one test in during each cycle. That will give us a idea if AggyBear is dropping too low and bouncing, or needs more insulin. I suspect she might be dropping lower and bouncing.
For the pm cycle if you could get a before bed test each night, that would be great. If that test is lower than the preshot number, you may need to set the alarm and get up and test again to see she is safe.
And for the am cycle a test around the +4 to the + 6 mark would be great, but any test would be good.
You did such an awesome job getting her better after the DKA.
Don’t be a stranger.......we like to hear of Aggies progress!

Thank you, this is helpful information. I will work on getting more mid-cycle tests. What exactly is bouncing, BG going low and then really high? I need to get in my head to just always do mid-cycle testing.

I didn't know if it was appropriate to post if things seemed to be going well, and just save everyone's attention to who really needed help. Is it appropriate to check in every week, or every other? Sorry if I'm overthinking that!

Hi Sam

Definitely like to hear how Aggy is doing. :cat:

Also people can learn how you can turn things around and what works.

I am not confident on advising on dose sorry but without the middle numbers it's difficult as bron says.

Bouncing is when a cat goes lower than it is used to and then glucose is released and figures go high. It may not be true clinical hypo just a figure aggy is not used to or it could be if she drops too quickly after the dose. The liver goes into panic thinking it is a hypo and releases glucose. Pabay has been unregulated for so long he would bounce on a low of 162 which would not happen to other cats. As a result we would then get readings in the 500s. What is too low is different for different cats.

There's is a sticky somewhere about bouncing.

How you tackle bounces depends on looking at the figures and the cats demeanour. It may be appropriate to hold the dose or reduce. So a curve and more data would be good.

It seems that as aggy is getting better she is becoming more sensitive to insulin which is good.

Bouncing can happen if the BG drops too low, too fast or lower than the cat is used to.
When one of these things happen, the cats body thinks it has to save itself and dumps stored glucose and regulatory hormones into the system and that sends the BG up high. Bouncing can last from one to six cycles and there is nothing you can do about it once it has happened. if you are testing during the cycles you can see if this is happening and then take steps to stop it.

You can post every day or every week, what ever you like .....we love to hear how you and Aggie are going.

I don't see 134 in your chart?
AMPS/11:05am BG 335, PMPS/11:01pm BG 134, noticed she's been at the today b a lot, esp today, appetite is strong. 12:04am BG 243, gave insulin

It was the number I got when I was going to give insulin but I waited 1 hour once i heard back and updated and got 243.

Oh ok. I would enter that 134 into the chart as well
