Good morning! Darcy was in the 400s all night and this morning. I gave R to try to bring him down, and it worked (I only hope they will monitor him closely at the vet.) He'll probably get a boost from stress today and will be fine.

He didn't want to eat much this morning, but he finally at a small meal. Lots of pills and phosphate binder. I pray his BUN will come down so that he can feel better. He still seems pretty well, in himself, though (except the appetite and the fact that he cannot walk too well.)

Poor Mr Darcy and Suzanne....Minnie also says she loves the a/d. She can't believe I made her live so long before trying it. It is 12% carb and 209P/100 kcal, so MC and a bit higher than either the DM pate 6% or savory selects 10+%.

How is Darcy's weight doing these days? He should be a lot less hungry with all the nice numbers he's been seeing. Neko was a fan of Recovery, it's also LC friendly.

Looks like Darcy's R scale has changed too, much lower now that his L dose is lower.

Feeling sick about your Darcy. Does the vet really think that day after day on fluids, at the vet office, will help him? Seems it might be stressing him out a lot. I'm sorry. I am no vet but there must be a way for you to keep him home, administer your own fluids, and let him enjoy his own home. He might eat better if he is allowed to stay home and rest. Once again, sorry to put in my "two cents". I just worry that all these vet visits are making things worse for him. Tell me to shut up and back off if you want, Suzanne. As I said, I am no vet and if you trust your vet then you continue on this program.

He has lost a lot of weight. I wonder what the phos level of Recovery is? Anything he will eat is good. Yes. Today’s R dose was perfect and apparently kept him in blue at the vet, but I did that after all the reds and amps of 445.

Actually, R took him down way more than 100 points, it was too much. However, nice to see the blues back.

Recovery is 250 mg/100kcals. A little higher than you'd like, A/D is 209.

Minnie votes for A/D! Yum yum lick the bowl clean.

You sound upset (understandably) about yesterday's reds but don't forget, they came after you skipped a dose AND wouldn't the R have worn off by the time the blues showed up again at +10 and PMPS? If I learned correctly, the R brought down his BG in the early part of the cycle which gave the L a better number to work from later on? I know that Wendy will correct / add as appropriate.

Minnie is missing her Darcy ..."am I blue? am I blue? am I blue, I'm true blue without you....". She wants him to bulk up too, she doesn't like weighing more than her man (and she's like a bowling ball now)

Hang in there. :bighug::bighug:

Hi Summer! Your "two cents" will always be welcome with me. It means that you care, and that means a lot! Isn't it wonderful how we really care about each other's cats and we've never actually met them! I really do! I have considered this, but right now his kidney values are so dangerously high that we need to get them down and IV fluids are our best hope, I believe. If anybody has information to the contrary from their personal experience with their own cats, I'd love to hear it. I need to get back onto the Tanyackd support group for advice. I've been a member for several years since my Tabitha had CKD. Thank you, Summer, I appreciate your friendship!

Darcy likes his women to be pleasantly plump anyway! He's still pretty bulky. Yes, he's down a bit from his 17.5 lbs, but he still has his Mojo! He will start exercising again, I'm sure. Tonight, he ate some "D"lectable food.

You made me laugh with the loverboy song. I just finished watching the scene from Dirty Dancing where they did this song. It was pretty risque. I kind of forgot about that. Do you know, once my husband and I -- and my brother and sister-in-law -- stayed at the resort where Dirty Dancing was filmed? It's Lake Lure, North Caroina. It really was beautiful, and we had a great time. A great memory... especially since I lost my older brother to ALS in January 2019.

But enough of that... you made me laugh AGAIN! Your friends must LOVE to be around you!

You've cracked me up tonight. I'd actually forgotten about that song.

Just a thought. My cats all love AD... but it is VERY high in fat and does frequently cause diarrhea in cats. Is Minnie having diarrhea? And Sam though too? Oops, I'd better put this in your condo.

Thanks for that intel. She hasn't had much of it but will keep clear.

I was JUST about to write "my work here is done for today". Then Minnie decided to remind me of the error of my ways in not giving her the anti-squits meds yet. Gas mask time. She looks so clean, too. Minx.

That is a lovely story about the resort though I am so terribly sorry to hear about your brother. You really have been through the ringer. I'm glad that this helped bring back a happy memory. But....what do you mean, North Carolina??! It was THE CATSKILLS! My sister and I loved that movie so much when we rented the video, we watched it again the following morning on fast forward because there wasn't time to watch it all the way through! And we had both of the soundtrack cassettes. I am sure not many people can claim to have a copy of Dirty Dancing TWO!

Do the new kittens have names yet? Maybe they can have a dirty dancing theme...Baby (of course...or Frances) and Johnny and (time for google) Kellerman and Penny and Mr/Mrs Schumacher and Vivian and Moe - oooh and there are many unnamed characters just called 'dirty dancer'. What a great name for a naughty kitty. Although I am sure that even you have not take in that many kittens!

I hope Mr D eats enough and keeps his BG high enough to let you get some sleep tonight.

I didn't realize that scene was filmed at Lake Lure. I've always wanted to go there but have chosen Maggie Valley or the Blowing Rock areas in NC instead. I will get to Lake Lure someday. I'm sorry to hear you lost your older brother. That must have been hard for the whole family.

I totally understand. If that is what the vet thinks is best then that is what you do. I appreciate your friendship, and others on this site, as well.

This really blows my mind. I can't understand how this kidney failure just came up so quickly. Either it's Baytril toxicity, Cabergoline, Acromegaly, or just really BAD LUCK.
Suzanne I thought I remember you saying Darcy was on a pain medication that begins with a M?? I do not know the exact name of it except that our Vet will NOT put Amethyst or JoJo on it because it cause serious Kidney Damage healing hugs and prayers:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

No. You must mean Metacam. I am aware of it. There is even a black box warning on Metacam. I never will give my cats Metacam, although there are some people who successfully use low-dose Metacam in cats with kidney failure.

Darcy had been on Metronidazole (an antibiotic) for a little while. It was five days for diarrhea.

Right now, Darcy is not on any pain medication at all and has not been on pain medication. He did get a very low dose of Buprenorphine on Sunday when his IV was hurting him. That calmed him right down. Buprenorphine is quite safe in cats. There aren't really any NSAIDs that can be completely safely used in cats without risking kidney injury. Thank you, though!

Thank you. Yes, they filmed the whole movie apparently at Lake Lure, NC. Very pretty. Yes, it was (and is) horrible that I lost my brother. I have one brother left now. There were just the three of us... two older brothers and me. My mom is now gone. My father is gone. My brother left behind a wife and three sons and four grandchildren. He was the best.

Do the new kittens have names yet?
There are two gorgeous orange kittens and one adorable black one. No names yet. I wanted to name one of them Peaches, but they are all boys! The rescue group that I work with asks us to name them all with names that start with the same letter... so that makes it challenging. Last batch of kittens were Minnie, Morwenna (did you ever watch Poldark on Masterpiece?), Marilla (that we really called Pumpkin,) Moses, and Mouse (he had Mickey Mouse ears on his back). Oh, and there was Aaron, too, but we got away with calling him that... and we really called him Panda at home.)

I hope Mr D eats enough and keeps his BG high enough to let you get some sleep tonight.

How is our Mr Darcy doing today? I checked for a post and his s/s but no info there. Did he eat last night? :bighug: and from Minnie :cat::bighug:

Marilla - Anne of Green Gables!! but no Matthew?! Morwenna is a lovely name.
