STALLING! (first time) NEED HELP: PMPS 123

Hello! Jill's been on Lantus since mid-March, but this weekend is the first that I've been really following the SLGS method. She's had 0.5 units of Lantus am and pm since Friday. Tonight her PMPS is 123 and I can wait 20-30 to test again but wanted to put out a "help" message since this is my first time stalling and not 100% sure what to do if she doesn't get up to 150 soon. She was 96 at +6 today.

Thank you!

It looks like you have had some trouble shooting the same dose am and pm so far.

If it has been 15 mi a since last test, you can test again.

Tested at 9:40 pm. We usually feed at 10 pm but haven't yet. I can give her about 10 more minutes and test again to see and then I will repost.

Before this weekend I was following my vet's plan which was this:
-- any BG below 200 to skip insulin
-- 200-250 to give 1/2 unit
-- over 250 to give 1 unit

We started 2/day insulin on Friday.

Thank you!!

No other health conditions that she's being treated for -- other than itchy skin which she takes Omega 3 for. We think she could have allergies and eosinophilic granulomas (on her tongue).

Her clinical signs: After thanksgiving last year, I was feeding the cats leftover turkey (we had SO much) and Jill began camping out in the kitchen screaming for food all the time, very unlike her. We wondered if she just became a foodie; the turkey was really good! Then I started to notice some increased drinking and had a bunch of tests done in December/January. Her BG at the vet was low 200s so they weren't concerned because she gets nervous. Then in March, she peed on the bed where she eats twice and we did a urinalysis and another BG at the vet and she was in the 360s. I had a diabetic cat before (love of my life, lived till a few weeks before his 20th bday) and so I am ultra-sensitive to changes like these.

Other than still peeing outside of the box and drinking a lot, she's doing well. Not as ravenous as she was before, but still really looking forward to mealtime.

I think we caught this early and so I am hoping to be able to help her.

Here's your previous post. We post the link to our previous post so it's easy for people to quickly go back and see what's been going on

Good job on stalling! I know your cats are pretty dependent on a strict feeding schedule but is there any way you can stall another 20-30 minutes?

How much more would you expect it to go up in 20 minutes though?

Once they start to move up, they can go quickly!

Are you able to test as much (and as long) as necessary tonight? Do you have plenty of supplies like testing strips, Karo, high carb food, etc?

I was looking around for tips on how to get .25 in the needle! And something about a drop method?
I feel OK skipping tonight, but back to normal in the morning, right?

.25 is in between the Zero line (the line closest to the needle) and the .5 line. There's actually a .1 dose as well as a drop dose! We'll deal with that when we need to!

A lot of people use calipers which allows you to ignore the lines on the syringes completely. Here's information on Dosing with Calipers.

back to normal in the morning, right?

Yes, I would but others may have different opinions....but if the same thing happens again, we may have to try the .25

AMPS 256. I think I will try .25 this morning. Since her PMPS numbers seem to trend under 150, does that make sense?
Thanks for all the help last night! Should I change my subject line now or is this thread ok as is?

Actually on this forum we ask you to post a new condo each day. Your subject will read 4/26 Jill AMPS 256 Dosing Advice.
Please start a new one now and link this one. I will look at your spreadsheet and answer there.
