I'm new to the forum. I adopted my boy from the humane society. He's a brown Tabby 6 years old. Had no idea he was diabetic until I took him to the vet for the first time. He was over 600 on blood sugar. Vet had me start with Prozinc slow at 1unit, then 2units, then 3units (when it was still over 300). Went to 4 unites and at next vet check he had a blood sugar of 54. Keep in mind, my cat's behavior did not change, except that instead of a urine output 3 time normal, it became normal. So, they had me back off by week one half unit by week. Now at 2.5 units twic a day. And I have been monitoring him with a Alpha Trak 2 monitor. I check him 6 hours after feeding and it stays incredibly low (44 - 55). But his behavior is fine. Help?
