64/63 @ PMPS. Can someone advise? Please see the bottom of my post.

Do you want to shoot tonight, or do you want to skip? This is your decision to make and is a decision for you, not for Susie. Here, folks with experience would shoot green, and it's something you will have to do at some point.

This is your decision to make and is a decision for you, not for Susie ... under a quote to me ...
I had to keep scrolling to top to figure out ...
I have had to re-read that one over and over, because it did fall under quote to me.
I guess you were asking Summer if she wanted to shoot or skip, her decision, not Susie the cat's decision.
But she had already given the shot, so that made it even more confusing :)

The difference between the +2 and PMPS should tell you a little bit of what kind of night you should expect. If it is similar or higher it should be OK. If it is lower, you may want to start with a tbsp of MC.

I know you are very worried about low numbers. Right now, these are very good numbers for Susie. Is just important to keep monitoring, because this is new for you and her.
I am afraid I cannot stay with you the whole night, as you can see Hercules is dropping quite a lot, so I am afraid I will be busy. But if I can I'll stop and check.
Thank you. We will be okay. Her PMPS and her
OK! Just holler if you need to. I will leave my laptop out for a bit of time.
So, you are on 4th cycle? That is when new dose comes in - New dose must be a happy one for kitty :)
Might be happy for her but stressful for me. We are okay. I have her covered and will not let anything happen to my beautiful girl.

I am re-reading ... Is that to me? a decision for you, not for Susie?
Meaning I must have brought up the subject of to shoot or not to shoot, and I did not.
I had to keep scrolling to top to figure out ... Are you talking to me, because if not, that surely is confusing :)

I gave Susie the full shot. Her drop was incredible but I think I balanced it with food. I will test again at +2.

Hi! So a couple things. First, it's a new dose, so you might have some new dose wonkiness going on while she settles in.

But something I don't think anyone else has mentioned and I believe it is worth it to keep in mind - she got a shot of Convenia today, right? Could be the shot did it. I know Wendy mentioned the vet visit, too, so keep these things in mind for next time she is at the vet or gets another shot and you can compare notes as time goes on, on whether these things affect her.
Very good point about the Convenia. That might have sent her low.

The decision to shoot or not is for the cat, but for the caregiver. This is a decision for Summer to make based on many things, the primary being ability to monitor.[/QUOI

I can monitor. Will check the BG again at +3. If it is going up I will go to sleep and figure out how this incredible drop happened today.

I was told to test every 15-20 minutes when they get low - that may have just been for the 30's, I am not sure on that.
I did not ask about about skipping shot or not. I thought she already gave the shot :) And I already do shoot green hahaha
Perhaps you were not speaking to me at that point? Although it does fall under quote to me, so I am not sure on that either :)
Not to hijack the thread, Cherryl - we advised testing every 15-20 that one time specifically because Mouzer was dropping pretty hard and fast, and was in the 30s even after food intervention. We wanted to keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't go too much lower while we waited for the HC to kick in.

I gave her her full dose. We are okay.
Good for you! I too hope this is a breakthrough for Susie. We have a little award for those shooting their first green.:D

Note, we are all nervous with our first greens and shooting our first greens. :bighug: I was extremely nervous because Neko was on a higher dose at the time. And it was a complete anti-climax as she bounced right away.

PS: It'd be great if you update the spreadsheet with the dose into tonight.

I just updated her spreadsheet. The 130 is not "food influenced" as she barely touched the food I put down to raise her BG. Thank you for the "Balls of Steel" award. I'm not really sure I deserved it. It could have been a really stupid move to make but I thank you. Just do not understand why she dropped so much in such a short period of time after two full days of high numbers. This was a total shock to me. I'm pretty sure she is on her way up now as I said she didn't really eat the food I put down for her when I was worried about the drop. It is 10:00 pm (EST) and I will set my clock for midnight just to see how she is doing. Thanks to all for your support!

Good point, Margaret. I thought the Convenia would raise he BG but it could have actually dropped it.

You're doing great, Summer! I know you will keep Susie safe... and I know you didn't want to see such a low number.

Congratulations for shooting your first green :bighug: im sure it was nerve wrecking but it gets easier once you will have more information on how Susie reacts in these lower values :cat: you did great at monitoring her

i saw Wendy recommended before putting down the amount and carb % of food you give, i want to second that: its a great source for next time, you would know what works and what doesn’t work which will make the learning curve easier:cat::cat:

heehee No need to 'not to hijack the thread, Cherryl' hahaha We are in Summer's thread :D
But Yes, it was that Mouzer got into the 30's and Christie let me know that it is to test every 15-20 minutes.
I would have waited 30 minutes, if it were me and Mouzer with the 63.
I did not want to have Summer off guard, and until someone could get here, I told her test in 30 minutes but if she feels uncomfortable to test in 15-20 minutes. There was a reason behind what I said. I wanted to make sure Summer was ok until someone got here. The post of emergency gave me the feeling that she was not comfortable, so I simply wanted her comfortable.

I would like to have 24% too... in case nobody noticed when Darcy dropped low the last few days and I gave him HC (FF Gravy Lovers) and it really didn't do much for him... he only went up 10 points after about 30 minutes.

It sounds like your Darcy responds to food about as well as Mouzer. That going up only 10pts with HC for Mouzer and then went to only going up by 5 and 6 points, and that he does not respond to honey very well, is what caused me to grab the karo because for some reason, karo works for Mouzer and for a good period of time, of which I have been informed is to be an hour and a half but it works for Mouzer up to three hours. Learning this with Mouzer has had me rather thinking, if he gets to 50, forget food, forget honey, get the KARO!! aahahahaahaha
And I do have a sense of humor and that is a joke :D

I think that if you feel that you don’t trust your vet I would definitely find another one, I’ve never give Zyrtec for allergies, I have given it for appetite stimulant to my cat Abby who has passed, I also know Bella has had Convenia several times and has had no reaction from it
Good to know your kitty has had Convenia before with no side effects.

I had a work conference in Orlando every year, DH would come down with me for a vacation. One year we did a side trip to Clearwater (beautiful!), and another Cape Canaveral to see a satellite launch...except the launch got canceled after waiting for hours, the traffic was horrendous trying to get out :arghh:
I know how frustrating it can be to come to see a launch and wait for hours only to have it cancelled. Luckily, I just walk outside and can see anything that goes up.

Good point, Margaret. Will need to take note and remember what happened today that might have contributed to her going low.

I was wrong. It was 24%. It was 21% if my calculations are correct. It is the Fancy Feast Delights with Cheddar. Grilled Tuna & Cheddar Cheese Feast in Gravy.

What % carb food do you have around?

It is unfortunately it is night... as always hard to keep monitoring. I would keep meassuring her every hour and giving a little bit of food. If you see dropping early in the cycle (before +4) give her some MC (~15%). If dropping a lot start testing every 30 minutes and give HC. If gets to 50, its honey/Karo time.

Karen, how is Hercules today? He had some nice blues last night and at AMPS today. Do you think he just bounced? That is what I am worried about with Susie today. It is like two steps forward and two steps back.

I have no idea what he us up to. I am sooo frustrated. I woke up the whole night and tried so hard to prevent her from dropping to fast to see if I could stop the constant bounce and crash cycle... but obviously failed...:(

Thanks, I'm going to the chart to look up some of those foods and go to the store soon to get some! I appreciate you telling me those flavors. Thanks!
Looks like the FF Wild Salmon Tuscany in a Savory Sauce is 23% and Tuna Tuscany in a Savory Sauce 22% (based on Dr Lisa's chart). I haven't been able to find them in the store (yet) though.

Amazon sells this if it is the same thing:
Fancy Feast Medleys Wild Salmon Tuscany with Long Grain Rice & Garden Greens in a Savory Sauce, 3-oz, case of 24

Looks like they sell the tuna too.
