Hi All. I found various posts about where to order Flovent inhaler from Canada. For those who order from Northwest, is it better to go with the brand name (Flovent) or is the generic (fluticasone) ok?

ETA: How long does it typically take to get your Rx? The site says 2-4 weeks and I'm just curious what others are experiencing.

@Aleluia Grugru & Minnie and @Little Bit’s Mom - saw your posts in another thread and thought you might be able to help! Thanks!

Thanks!

Mogs
.

I order from InHouse pharmacy. Here's the one I order: https://www.inhousepharmacy.vu/p-398-flixotide-fluticasone-cfc-free-125mcg-inhaler.aspx

The main difference between the generic and the Flovent is Flovent has a counter on the inhaler and the generic doesn't. I use a countdown tally on a piece of paper. Some people use one on their phones. I haven't noticed a difference in efficacy.

It usually takes me about 3 weeks to receive the inhalers, including the time for me to mail them a check.

Thank you! I uploaded the check and the prescription to Northwest, so hopefully, that will make things a bit speedier. The vet wrote it for the generic so I'll keep a written tally (thanks for that tip!).

I ordered from Northwest right before Christmas and it took a month and a 1/2 from the day I uploaded the check, but it could have been because of the holidays. Hopefully you’ll get it faster!

I got Jack's flovent (flixotide) today. Do I need to do anything to "prime" it or is it ready to go? The instructions are not in English. Vet just said to administer it twice/day for a week, then once/day after that. How many breaths does he need to take once the dose is in the chamber?

You shake it really well then do one puff into the air. After that it’s ready to go. Shake it well every time and the number of breaths varies but my vet said 5 at least so I’ve been doing about 7 because some times she moves her head and I’m not sure she got a full breath in. Did you get Jack used to having the mask on his face?
