so i just tested pookie and he is currently in the blues for this morning !! i asked his foster and she suggested we give him his normal dose but monitor him!! i was wondering if that's what I should do !! i think me and dalton would like to switch pookie to TR from SLGS but not sure how to best switch him over !! as I think he would do really good on it !!

If you can monitor today, and have plenty of supplies and HC food or karo, you can shoot the normal dose. Make sure you get a +1 and a +2 to see if he's going to go down or bounce.

yes me and dalton are home all day and I have pure maple syrup in case of hypo and we have a few high carb can of shredded friskies and dry food as well in case he needs it! going to shoot his full dose right now will test him again at +1 and +2 thank you every one !! i will post his +1 numbers as soon as I get it :)

You can switch to TR right away. The requirements for TR are that (a) you feed Pookie LC canned (no dry food) and (b) you get at least one test per cycle in addition to the PS ones.

TR is a more aggressive protocol than SLGS but it allows you to hold a dose at which the cat sees normal numbers (50-99). Dose changes are as soon as every 3-5 days and reductions are taken when the BG drops below 50 (on a human meter).

Since you skipped the shot on 22/Mar (PM), the cycle count restarts (with TR) and you hold the dose 6 cycles and then take a call whether to increase or not (assuming he doesn't drop below 50 before then and earn a reduction!).

Let me know if you have any questions :-)

Thank you!!! So shoukd we hold the dose HES at now until the end of cycle 6 and if he had earned it , a reduction !! Yes we only feed him wet , currently it's friskies wet food but eventually we want to start buying a bit of a higher quality one for him!! My question mostly is if he does earn a reduction how much am I doing , going down my .25 u? Or would it be greater given whatever his numbers are ! Going to test him at 9:30 to see what they are after this morning dose

Yes. You hold the dose 6 cycles. This AM is cycle 3. If he drops below 50, you reduce the dose by 0.25U. Increases are also by 0.25U.

Good luck with today's cycle. The key is to feed a little with every test to keep them surfing the blues and greens.
