03/23 Pookie AMPS 313/17.4 +2 328/18.2

I'm not an SLGS expert but I believe the cycle count resets when you skip, do a furshot, or a token/reduced dose.

Sorry you didn't get a reply yesterday, next time try changing title to "PMPS 137 Stalling Help" and bump the post to get more eyes on it. If it were me I'd have shot a token (0.1-0.25U) or reduced (0.75U) dose if you could monitor during the night.

(Actually if it were me I'd have still shot the full dose, but I've been doing this awhile and am comfortable handling potential hypos - but you did the right thing without having much experience or advice! Over time you'll want to start shooting lower and lower numbers)

Thank you so much!! Next time I will make sure to bump it and make it more easily to see at the top!!! :) so we skipped and he went uo a night higher this this morning I shot 1.50U And just tested him, went up a bit more compared to the AMPS, I think we want to increase him to 1.75U and see how it goes but I won't until tomorrow morning as I'm a bit nervous to do it over night in case he does go hypo, but I beyond appreciate the advice !! In the future if this happens again, which it will !! I'll try maybe a token shot !!! I'm very lucky that my foster is still helping us so much !!

I'm not sure , should I raise Pookies dose or should I keep him at the current 1.50U for another cycle since that reset it!! Still trying my best to learn

So if you're following SLGS as it's written, you'd actually continue to hold the dose for a few more cycles I believe, since you saw that 137. If it were me I'd probably give the depot about 4 cycles to refill, then look at an increase...but keep in mind I don't follow SLGS.

@Summer and Susie do you know who the more experienced SLGS folks are?

Hi! That was a nice drop for Pookie last night! Next time, you can post and get help shooting as it's a very shootable number!

The concept of restarting a cycle count only applies to TR as it refers to "consecutive" cycles. On SLGS, one generally has an idea of how well a dose is working over the week even if there is a skip. See post #7 from Marje in this thread - https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/1-29-do-daa-amps-269-4-5.242300/

With that said, you saw a nadir in the ideal range for SLGS so I believe you hold the dose :bighug: @tiffmaxee can you confirm when you get a chance? Pookie had a 137 at PMPG last night (they skipped) but that means a nadir in the ideal SLGS range of 90 and 149.

Hope that helps :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I asked that same question a couple of days ago. I don't know if they are the most experienced but they have been referred to me and been helpful. @Carla/Furball and @Tanya/Cosmo @thebigfuzz.

Try @carfurby, @thebigfuzz. That is Carla and Furball and Tanya and Cosmo. Carla does have a few adjustments she has made to SLGS but they both seem very knowledgeable.

tested and gave his first insulin dose since yesterday morning!! He had a great night but I think tomorrow's AMPS I will increase I just didn't want to give him insulin and make him go too low last night

Kyle/Dalton. Actually I think you did the right thing according to the SLGS Protocol. It states "if you get a preshot number below 150, don't give insulin. If the preshot is between 150 and 200 you can a) give nothing, b) give a token dose (10-25% of the usual dose), c) feed as usual, test in a couple of hours, and make a decision based on the value. Above 200 but below the cat's normal pre-shot value, a reduced dose might be wise.". Check out the SLGS Stickys at the beginning of the Lantus, Basaglar, or Levemir Forum. https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...-low-go-slow-slgs-tight-regulation-tr.210110/

I am not an expert. A couple of folks who are are @carfurby and @thebigfuzz. Hopefully, they will chime in and advise you.

Hi Summer - at the beginning of that section, it states that those are options until you collect enough data. On SLGS, technically, 90 and higher is shootable - if you look at Furball's or Cosmo's SS's, you'll see they shoot lower than 150 (and I know Carla will shoot Furball even lower than 90 but that's her individualized dosing). It's all about data and knowing thy cat :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yes. Hold the dose until you get a curve in a week.
Ok I will keep holding him!! Dalton tested him at 1:30 and his numbers were 293/ 16.3 so HES been on a bounce today!!! I will keep him on the current dose he is now at 1.50U for another week until we get the curve !! Also I was told by Pookies foster we also could have given a token dose or half his usual dose!! I was just a bit nervous as I didn't want to risk getting him so low, but if this happens again I will consider giving him a token dose and just watching him!!

I do see that comment in the beginning. So it is okay to shoot a normal insulin shot if you are at 91 with a preshot and it is not too much lower than normal? Sorry, I screwed up. @Pookie kyle/Dalton please see this statement.
