3/20 Darcy PMPS 227, +2.5 210, +4.25 261 more yellows this evening

Spreadsheet is looking a lot sunnier this last week. :) How is Darcy feeling/behaving these days?

Thanks Margaret! You too. Poor, dear Pearl has a lot of conditions that you have to manage. What do you give her for her asthma/chronic pneumonia. I assume thats what the pred is for... what else? I've been having to nebulize one of my civvies lately.
I have never had success with a nebulizer, and would love you input. What do you put in it? And how do you administer it, in a box, or...??

She does get the Pred for her asthma. I'm down to every 4th day, and I hope that will be her magic number (or less). (In the past, whenever I've gotten her off Pred, we get another series of bad attacks and pneumonia, so I haven't had success in the past year weaning her completel off). It's starting to be allergy season here, and her asthma histoircally has ramped up during that season. She also gets Cyphroheptadine BID for the allergies year round (she gets drippy eyes and nose without it, and sometimes her entire face puffs up). She also is on a maintenance dose of Azithromycin year round (every 3rd day) to keep URIs at bay. She gets bacterial URIs, and I think those are what start off the pneumonias. Ever since we've been on the Azithromycin, she hasn't had a pneumonia, so I hope that is a sign we are doing something right!
In terms of asthma maintenance, she also gets Flovent 250mcg 1 puff every 12 hours. And I've got Albuterol for attacks!

I got a "compressor" nebulizer and I put her in a carrier with a bed in it and put a blanket over it and hang the nebulizer up inside the carrier on the bars. Then she is in there for 15 minutes breathing a mixture of sodium chloride solution and an antibiotic gentimicin (9 mL sodium chloride and 1 mL of the gentimicin goes into the nebulizer. I hope it's going to help her lungs! She's really been pretty good for it (and she's a calico!) You really take the most amazing care of Pearl with all that. I'm very impressed now that you told me all that.
