I bought the Gerber already.
She just called , only had a cleaning, but she did say at this moment she
saw no need for extractions.
But there is one tooth on both sides that could develop
feline oral resorptive lesions”
I found this article about. She said she will keep a watch on it, it could take 2-3 years to develop
I asked her if brushing his teeth everyday might prolong it and she said possibley.
She feels he doesn't need any meds, just give him 1-1/2 dose of the gaga if I want to
Can pick him up at 4 PM
She checked his sugar , pet meter it was 300 , I think she said she did it after the cleaning.
So just watch it.
I will have to be patient to see if it comes down

hurray! good job Tyler and mama :bighug: when do you get to get him? Jax's dental vet kept him for a few hours for observation.

Oh interesting. Jax didn't have any lesions but has two molars fully absorbed and then the two extracted that were partially absorbed.

My vet dentist was really into 1-TDC - it's a supplement you rub on their gums. You can get it on chewy (my dental vet charged me too much lol but it is what it is). Maybe ask your vet about it.

She didn't see any lesions , but wants to keep an eye on them
Yes she was explaining to me about tooth absorption
I'll ask her about the supplement
What does it do for the gums?

from my reading, it supports healthy gum tissue. I'll take a picture when I can. I just tried to find it on chewy but didn't see our bottle. Jax's vet had me rubbing it on his extraction sites if I could (Jax tolerates it amazingly well) and then I rub the rest on his upper gums. She said if I couldn't get my hand in his mouth to put it in his food but I like giving it to him when he's done eating for the cycle then it can just sit on his gums longer.

I'll try not to worry , just like last time when he went for the check up, they came up and after a couple of days they went back to normal

Just picked up Tyler, he's wobbley. I tried offering him the baby food , doesn't want it or water.
They did give him fluids though
I sent my vet the info in the ITDC , she's going to read it but knew what I was talking about
She set they have something like that there but she's not pleased with it
I guess her boss is the one who stocks it.
But she's going to read about the one you sent me and the reviews and said
yes you can use it.
I read to do it for 30 days and then one every other day
Is that what you did in the beginning
I'll just leave him alone for now and stop bothering him.
I won't check his BG until tomorrow

Yup - we're still in our 30 days so I'm doing daily right now. I didn't start it until after Jax's 10 day recheck because I didn't want to put my hand in his mouth after the extractions but his dentist vet was saying it would help the extraction sites heal + promote good gum health. I'm sure different vets have different opinions, just like everything :) I also read it helps joints so I figured he could use that too though he's largely inactive :rolleyes:

ETA so glad Tyler's home! he'll eat later, I'm sure. I had to make Jax's food like soup the first night but that was with his extractions.

Just read the dosage again says 30 days , then 1 every other day
I make his food soupy all the time, and yes he's largely inactive also
He just ate some yeah
 
I just want to thank all of you for wishing Tyler well.
Picked him up at 4:00 , he's a little wobbley yet.
No extractions, but she wants to check 2 teeth in about a year. I posted an article about it above.

He just ate a little bit and laying down again
I'm going to leave him be.
She checked his sugar after the cleaning with the pet meter it was 300
It will probably go back to his normal numbers ( he's been in remission since
1-24-21
It went up after he had his check up before the cleaning and it went up and then came back down in about 2 days
So hopefully it will do the same

I'll probably check his BG tomorrow afternoon or at night, don't want to aggravate
him.

Tyler had me up all night, I have been up since yesterday afternoon.
So I'm going to close my eyes for awhile .

she told me that 1 bottom tooth on each side will have to be checked in 1 year.
She felt no extractions at this time
The roots on these 2 teeth were a smidge different when compared to the rest.
I'll post the article I found below.

But right now she sees no lesions, just a slight difference in roots in the 2 teeth compared to the rest. Check them in about a year again.I definitely plan on brushing his teeth now everyday
and Susanne told be about something you rub on their gums to keep them healthy
My vet knew what I was talking about, I sent her the info on it.
She thought is was a good idea also

Haven't taken his BG yet, probably tonight, I paid 309.00 for the whole procedure
which I knew ahead of time. Some could not believe the price I was given.
I guess I do have a vet that has very reasonable prices lol

Tested Tyler @+1.5. BG- 64. Hallelujah
I'll keep tested him for a couple of days just to be sure he's still in remission

Hey Susanne, I showed my vet this and she really liked it , she also liked that it supports hip and joints. Does Jax like the taste.I think I may give it a try
Did Jax get any type of reactions to it?

  • For dogs over 25 lbs: Give 2 capsules daily per 50 lbs for 30 days and then 1 capsule daily per 50 lbs thereafter.

Thank you so much, Diane. Is this what you have been using on Tyler? For his teeth? Or did you just start it recently? I’m going to order this for Darcy. He has started to be stiff on some days and limping on other days and not able to jump on some days (he had a day like that this week.)
