So excited and beyond amazed at this group and how lucky cats are that they can go into remission!

So amazed at how far (in such a SHORT amount of time) George and I have come! It legit, wasn't that long I said I was done and that I could no longer poke his ears.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
I haven't been the best group member these past 14 days. I'm sorry. Life has been upside down for many since covid, and here in my home, when one thing calms down or gets under control, something else flares up. I'm just thankful to God that it's usually only one thing that demands so much of my time and energy, because I feel like I have so little and need to ration it out.

George would not be here if it wasn't for you and this group. Thank you.
Love,
Heather

I hope things calm down for you. I am so happy we were able to help you get George OTJ. You and George did all the hard work and it paid off. :D Congratulations!:otj:

Thank you everyone again. I am beyond excited and am hoping for more and more kitties to be able to dance in the falls!

I am searching for info/thread on what do I do now. How often do I check his sugars still, should I hang onto the insulin or pass it along? I think there is info somewhere. =D THis group is ON POINT! I wish all groups were created equal! HA HA!

This is from the instructions for an OTJ trial.

Once he/she is through the trial successfully, you enter a new phase. Your cat is still diabetic but has now become diet-controlled. Continue feeding low carb food in the manner successful for your kitty. If you decide to change his/her feeding schedule, let your meter be your guide to the best times to feed. Avoid medications with sugar in them and steroid medications unless they are medically essential. Continue testing blood glucose weekly for the first month and then monthly forever. It's a good idea to weigh him/her monthly. Weight should remain stable. If he/she seems "off" or sick, or is showing signs of diabetes (excessive drinking, eating, urinating, weight loss), test his/her blood glucose right away. Keep the teeth and gums clean and healthy; dental issues can bring a cat out of remission. If you see rising blood glucose numbers, it's time for a visit to the vet!
