Bounce has broken it looks like. Will dose him and monitor.

This is day 7 of SLGS protocol.

Video call with potential new owners this afternoon!

Big drop! I'd recommend getting a +4. And even feeding a little to see if you can keep him surfing. we don't necessarily need him to go any lower.

Also, your title says PMPS...should be AMPS? Best to change it just in case you need help.

Good luck with the call!!! Let us know what happens.

We did a blood draw at +5 so the couple could see what it entailed. Had to do it twice so they got to learn at least a couple of mistakes that can be made.

Changed the title to AMPS, thanks for the catch @Butters & Lyla.

They're madly in love with him and want to adopt him! They may pick him up tomorrow or they may wait a few days while we figure out how Pookie is doing on his current dose, which is what I think I'm going to recommend. Doing an order through Diabetes Express to get him set up. He'll use the Bravo meter.

Pookie is doing well and is content to eat :)

They will be joining the forum and taking over the current spreadsheet.

This is amazing news!!:joyful::joyful::joyful: What a lucky family! They will get as much support as they would like here. I hope they post!
Pookie is having a nice, flat surf from the looks of those two tests! Beautiful:D. That said, on SLGS, he earned a reduction because he went below 90. You would be lowering the dose to 1.25u as of tonight. But I'm tagging @tiffmaxee or @Wendy&Neko or maybe @Bandit's Mom will be able to confirm this.

ETA: If you switch to TR, you could hold the current dose (because decreases are taken if kitty goes below 68 on a pet meter or 50 on a human meter) But you need a little bit more testing if you're going to do that, imo.

All of us had a nice nap this afternoon. He looks like he's on his way back up. We'll give him the dose reduction tonight. What a great way for him to go to his new home!

Into the yellow at +11. I'm going to count that as his PMPS test as well. Will reduce to 1.25 in an hour and do a +2 and maybe a +3 depending on how he looks.

He's been quieter this afternoon and a bit more aloof - maybe he's not used to the lower numbers? I also think he's getting tired of having his ears pricked.

Or maybe I'm just projecting.

Thank you!! We're very new to cat diabetes but love how handsome this man is and weve really wanted to adopt another cat!! And especially with cats being older not many people want them!! We're going to see pookie tomorrow, but would love all the help from all you amazing people :)!!! We're still overwhelmed but eager to learn and provide the best care we can for him it's amazing to have a group as big as this for help

Looks like Pookie is off on another bounce with his latest blood results.

Kyle and Dalton, you can change his spelling to Pooky if you want. He's not going to know the difference :)

Pookie will be staying with us for a few more days while Kyle and Dalton get to know more about feline diabetes and while their order comes in for all the stuff that they need.

Kyle, there is so much here to learn. I'll start with a couple of the easier ones.

Pookie is on the Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) method. It's at the bottom of this post (https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...-low-go-slow-slgs-tight-regulation-tr.210110/). You're welcome to switch to Tight Regulation (TR), but it's a bit more demanding as far as testing. The group here will definitely help with advice.

How to do testing - the big thing for us was to get size 28 lancets. We had been working with size 33 and had a tough time. You can find more here (https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/hometesting-links-and-tips.287/)

Pookie is a prime example of New Dose Wonkiness - you can read more about it here: https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/new-dose-wonkiness-ndw-and-failed-reductions.46012/

That's enough for now. We'll work on the spreadsheet together tomorrow and we'll get the signature set up for you.
