3/8 Mouzer: AMPS 342/+1.5 318/+3.5 303/+6 305/+9 319/+11 340/PMPS 337/+2 355

Good luck with the increase!

Thank You! As I was waiting a little bit to be at shot time this morning, I was sweet talking to Mouzer and told him how it sure would be nice to see him go to the 200's today. I do not know if it is possible for a kitty to come down from his 300's all the way to blue, so I will start with being happy over yellow first.

I am not getting to see any 200's yet, but we do have some lower bgl's since the new dose of 1.0 at am shot.
3/8 Mouzer: +10.5 329/AMPS 342/+1.5 318/+3.5 303/+6 305

I had to cheat with the fancy feast I am wanting to get Mouzer back on. He would not eat his past favorite of the chicken or turkey & giblets pate, so I bought a case of the seafood flavors. He is eating them. I do not want seafood to be his forever food, but I figured I will try tossing in a chicken pate from time to time and see if he eats it. I also bought one case of the tiki cat chicken to see about adding a little into the ff chicken, see if that helps.

And do not ask me about the font :D
I copied and pasted Mouzer's info from title and ended up with this font for the comment, minus being able to get rid of the bold part :)

I had ordered a 25 pound bag of Young Again the other day and I found Dr Elsey's on Amazon yesterday, so I ordered two 6.6 pound bags of that. I do not know how long it will take the Young Again to get to me and the Dr Elsey's will be here tomorrow.

I thought about how to go about this with making sure the previous dry of Merrick's brand gets eaten and gone but so that Mouzer is not around it.

I am going to let the kitties in another location finish out the Merrick's bags and keep the Dr Elsey's and Young Again with the kitties who Mouzer houses with. This way, I can leave some dry out for those kitties and if Mouzer did venture to it, it will be safe for him.

If I find the food to be too expensive, I think I can at least handle that Mouzer and his kitty group have the dry food that Mouzer is allowed to eat and if I have to, I can keep the others on the Merrick's. I am wanting to test to see if by chance they eat enough less of dry food with the Young Again and Dr Elsey's that it would make it a comparable pricing with the Merrick's, so that all kitties can go with Young Again and/or Dr Elsey's.

Just a heads up, some cats have GI upset from Young Again. I've heard it's quite rich is why cats eats less of it.

Absolutely, Neko's first reduction (under 50), came starting the day at 430. Doesn't look you'll have that issue today. You might get some New Dose Wonkiness after the increase.

For this ... GI upset with the Young Again - Are you meaning like loose stool or what took place in the upsets?
If I notice a change, I will stick with the Dr Elsey's after the 25 pound bag of Young Again is done with.
I am hoping to afford Dr Elsey's though. It did cost more than the Young Again and the Young again is not cheap hahaha

I hope any new dose wonkiness will be to Mouzer's favor -- down and not up :D

Thank you for that information. If I see an issue, I will use that bag as treats, so to get rid of the bag.
My cats are on Young Again without any issues. It is indeed very calorie dense and high in protein compared to other kibble so they ask that you transition them gradually to avoid GI issues.

On their website, I read not to mix the food with any other food, so how did you transition them?

I think they say that for diabetic remission, cats should eat only YA and not anything else. Which is BS.

You mix old kibble and YA in ratio of:
75% old - 25% new for 2-3 days
then 50% old-50% new for 2-3 days
then 25% old -75% new for 2-3 days
and then 100% new

This is what they have...

Do NOT Mix Young Again with other CAT foods.
Most companies recommend a gradual change over, but mixing foods makes the food smell strange. It’s not like your cat’s regular food and it’s not a new food. Mixing foods will also cause litter box issues like soft stool.

Can you refresh my memory on how we can make the previous day link in first post of thread to show a word and not the link ...
like to show Date Name and when clicked it takes people to the link for previous day's thread?

I was going to try to stay up and test Mouzer through the night but he is not happy that...
first off he is not happy that he is getting stuck in the ear again but he has been patient with me, as he lets out a little whine that almost sounds like, Oh Mom, Do we have to do this really? hahaha But too, I did a no insulin curve right before starting insulin and he got irritated with me about sticking his ear throughout the day.

And today I have been sticking his ear because I wanted to see what the new dose would do. He is at PMPS +2 355. I was not expecting a bg increase after pm shot but here we are, so I think I will call it a night and give Mouzer a break and I need a break too. I have not slept much since I realized he was out of remission.

I don't think you need to test so much just yet. Usually, a +2 will give you an idea of whether it's going to be a more active cycle. If the +2 is lower, then some more tests are needed during the cycle.

Right now he is still flat and high, so a test or two per cycle in addition to the PS - like you were doing till now is fine. Let's save the pokes for when he gets to better numbers :-)
Going by the PM +2, you don't need more tests tonight.
