What is a cat’s favorite kitchen tool? The “whisker”.
Hmmm, preshot a little better, but he's not feeling well again. He wouldn't play and he didn't even run when I told him it was time for the medicine routine. You should have seen the glare with ears back he gave me when it was shot time. Definitely not feeling well. However it's warm again today so we'll be outside in the grass. He likes that.
Hey, I want to tell you guys about the best "kibble" I made for Squeaky. I got some beef round (low-fat) from the grocery store and had the butcher slice it thin. Then I cut it into teeny chunks, put it on my dehydrator trays, and sprinkled a little salt on it. Dried it until crunchy. Squeaky is SOOOOO HAPPPPY about this, he thinks he getting kibble. 100% protein no carbs. This is now the go-to treat after shots, for tricks, and outings. (Make sure you get low-fat meat suitable for jerky.)
(Note this can also be done with chicken, but if you just dry the chicken either raw or cooked, it turns hard as a rock. To have really edible chicken "kibble", make meat broth -- put a whole chicken in a pot covered with water and cook it until the chicken is way overcooked, really soft and mushy. Then kind of smash it a bit and spread it on the dehydrator tray, add a little salt and dry until crisp. Both Squeaky and I love this! But he can't have any, his chicken allergies flare up. If you don't have a dehydrator you can do this in the oven on a cookie sheet at about 150 or 160 degrees. Oh, yah, then you have the meat broth to drink straight or use for soup. Really concentrated nutrition.)
