Felix is slowly getting lower. Today was 94. When should I reduce his dose. I cannot be home today until +10 and the auto feeder is set for +5 & +9 small meals. Thank you.

Per Vetsulin dosing guidelines, you've actually missed two reductions. With Vetsulin any time you get a number under 90, reduce by 0.25U.

The dose moving forward (starting with tonight's shot) should be 2.75U, provided the shots are safe to give based on test data. I wouldn't drop to 2.5U given the history of DKA. But if you get another number under 90 reduce again.

I personally would not have shot a full dose with a PS of 94 and not being home. I'd have stalled without feeding to see if his numbers came up...and depending on how much they came up then decide on a full, reduced, token, or skipped shot.

Vetsulin onset is often around +2, so the feeder at +5 may be too late if he drops fast and early. There's absolutely no way you can check, or have someone check on him?

If tonight's preshot is under 200, stall without feeding and post here for help.

I would suggest a token dose in this case, so 0.25-0.5 U. Better safe than sorry!

Vetsulin onset is often around +2,
Vetsulin onset is earlier, usually around +1 and sometimes even before that (especially if the cat is in a good range already and/or if the dose is on the high side for the cat).

Agree with this, and would lean more towards the 0.25IU dose with some higher carb food left out if the kitty can't be monitored.
