2/22 George AMPS 93, +2 87, +6 72, PMPS 126, +1 112, +2 72, +3 67

I will check after I fed him.
I have friskies classic Pate liver and chicken and various fishes. They mostly say 10% protein but I have to look up the carb.
I have one can left of friskies with extra gravy pate with tuna and savory gravy.
I can look up the percent of carbs after I feed him

With gravy is 15 carbs plus I have dry food. Low carb 5 carbs. I can mix the wet for medium carb?

Don't feed dry food.
15% would be closer to MC than HC. Some folks consider 15% and above as HC.

So you have 5% and 15%? Are any of the food with gravy HC?

Yes the 15 carb has savory gravy. I can grab more on my way home. I have one can of it left actually that is the hc I thought I had and used before

You can always add a little honey to the 15% carbs to increase the carb% if required. Let's see how he does on the drop dose.
Shall wait for a +2 test and see how to feed :-)

You said you can get another test around +5 or +6 on days you have to work, right?

Usually yes. Today it might be a tad early or a tad late. I'm leaving work at +3.5 to take my husband to his new job to get his new work van. Then I will come home and test. It will prob be closer to +5 or 6 by then. I'm hoping +5 as I need the hours.

When I put lc food at+1 it was really right when I did shot.

Should I put that in notes instead so that I don't get confused? And then is it also okay if I test him at times an hour after he eats or is it okay that it is not always two hours that he hasn't eaten when I'm testing him throughout the day as long as it's not pre shot? I want to make sure I'm getting accurate readings.

Could I also have too much blood for a job for a poor reading? Too little? I need to go back to the pdf of that is where I can read all what can affect the strip test reading.

Getting ready for a +2 now

Only 10 min early. 87! Does that still count as a + 2?

LOL. We all do. So you've come the right place.

Yes, counts as +2. Feed some LC. Whenever you can get another test (+5/+6) that would be great!

Let us see how he does on this dose. And decide on feeding. We recommend small meal over the first part of the cycle rather than just 2 meals a day.

Ok. I think I feed him 3/4 of a 5.5oz can.
I am having a crazy moment and can't find the can that I fed him this morning. It's not in the fridge if he ate everything that was in the can it would have been a half a can. or little less but I really don't think I gave it to him all

Don't worry. Even if he ate more, it's only 1 meal. Just feed him a spoon from another can so you can leave for work :)
Thank you, I spent About 10 minutes looking for that can, I'm not going to be happy if your daughter who went to school decided to give it to him without asking , she's 10, but she knows she's not supposed to feed him without asking me. It wasn't a lot so I affect him but it could and will if she does something else that she's not supposed to while we are monitoring him.

I was feeding two cans a day to increase his weight, so I'm trying to lower that down now that he is healthier. I think I did one and a half to 1 and 3/4 can yesterday. I'm not sure how much qualifies as a small meal.

Would you suggest him having smaller meals even after he's in remission?

Can you recommend how to spread out one and a half cans in a 24-hour period? I need to double check that that's even the right amount of calories he should be getting as a 15.5 lb cat. He is a big boy, but he is not overweight right now.

Good morning. Don’t worry if he ate more than you wanted. There’s a formula to figure out how many calories he needs that I will find and post for you. Is he at his optimum weight or do you want him to gain a limits? That’s not a lot of food depending on the size of the cans.

The many small meals is to even out the calories and keep him hungry in case his bg drops and he needs to eat to keep it up.

They get on the bathroom counter to sleep on the scale??!! :joyful:

Yep. Since they were babies. When I got them they were so scared my bathroom was their room for the first week. First they chose to sleep in the carrier and then on the scale once they had freedom to roam. Now it’s torture for me to get them in the carriers.:banghead:

Hi your George and mine are similar in weight, both big guys. My George is just over 15pounds, good weight for him.

He has about 300g of food approx 270cal. I fiddled about with the amounts to stop him from getting to fluffy. The Catinfo link you were given is a good one to look at it will give you the tools to decide. Keeping his weight in check will also help keep him in remission.
George gets two main meals, 12 hours apart and 3 snacks of 25g am and pm
I use an autofeeder when I'm not home or asleep.

Small regular meals are easier on the pancreas and a better option for a diabetic kitty in remission. I tried doing 2 main meals and 2 snacks four hours apart, put George didn't like that and his BG was a bit higher.

I saw a black colored box when I looked but it’s not now. Disregard what I wrote. Your +1 is less than the PMPS so definitely get a +2. It might be a busy night.
