? 2/12 Jocke, AMPS 352, +3 @ 365, +5.75 @ 54, +6.25 @ 59, +7 @ 58, +7.5 @ 64, PMPS @ 302, +4 @ 163

Thanks for starting a new thread! :-)

He could be bouncing from those two back to back days of lows. Let's give him 6-10 cycles on 3U to see if he needs an increase or another decrease! The 1.5U dose disrupted the depot.

A +3 today could give you an indication of whether this will be an active cycle and you can feed accordingly.
What is his normal feeding schedule like?

he usually gets to eat +10, but now that we were pushed back, it is more of a +7. A few small snacks during the day, all LC wet food or freeze-dried chicken breast.

the +3 is up there at 365, higher than his AMPS

I made sure he got a good meal in, and was even treated to some temptations to make sure his numbers don't go lower now. But being later in the cycle I'm confident he's on his way up. He's had enough ear pricking for now and is hiding, so I won't take a new reading for a few hrs

the +5.75 reading is low at 54 again... he's bouncing up and down. He just ate (FF LC paté)
now at 59 and 59 within the +6 and +7 readings, checking how the numbers move along

Sorry, I went to bed and missed all the action. That is some drop from +3 to +6 and one that I would not have seen coming.
You need not feed him Temptations that late in the cycle. Looks like he was surfing the 50s on FF pate itself.

Wow, way to break a bounce there Jocke!

I doubt if you've decided on a dosing method you want to use yet. There are 2 different ways to use Lantus, Tight Regulation and Start Low, Go Slow. At some point soon you're going to need to choose one (you can always change your mind later) because it makes a difference in the advice we give you.

Because we're dealing with a lot of unknowns, I think I'd reduce him again by .25 so his new dose would be 2.75. On TR he wouldn't have actually earned a reduction yet but on SLGS he would, so just for now, I'd go ahead and decrease

TR is a more aggressive protocol than SLGS, and requires at least 1 test per cycle in addition to the PS test - so at least 4 tests per day. It also allows you to tweak doses sooner (every 3-5 days vs 7 days in SLGS) and that means Jocke can get to his good dose faster and stay at normal numbers (50-100 on a human meter) longer.

With SLGS, you hold doses for a week and reduce when numbers fall below 90. You need to get only PS tests and do a weekly curve.
