changed to human meter
thanks. I completely forgot about it. How are you Carla? Is Furball ok?Nice start today. I hope Chanel slides down and surfs safely. Don't forget to update your signature with your new meter.
OMG Sue, you are funny LOL! Yes, but let me tell you, it needs more blood than the other, unfortunately. We are ok, Chanel is not well but her medical tests are ok, so there is a lot of confusion these days regarding her health.SO glad to see you've switched to a human meter!
Great to see you again! Hope you and Chanel are doing well!!
Furball is doing good. She is very bouncy lately though. I hope you can figure out what is going on with Chanel and get a good treatment plan in place. Sending prayers. How are you Carla? Is Furball ok?

Thanks, do you have any idea why Furball is bouncing? Trying to figure out here, but Chanel does not want to help.Furball is doing good. She is very bouncy lately though. I hope you can figure out what is going on with Chanel and get a good treatment plan in place. Sending prayers.![]()
Not really. She's just being bouncy this time around on insulin. Some cats are just bouncy. If I didn't have to work and could monitor all the time, I may be able to catch her drops and feed to slow them down and then she wouldn't bounce as high.do you have any idea why Furball is bouncing?
I am feeding Chanel every time she asks, including when she is low. Nothing. I am still investigating if it is a food issue or environmental. The vet did so many tests, including cardio, complete ultrasound. Anything but sending her to shrink. The vet is afraid she is not responding to this insulin anymore, but she is hopeful to be wrong. Not really. She's just being bouncy this time around on insulin. Some cats are just bouncy. Well, it is not about the 75 but her jump to 350 at +4 afterwards. She seems to be bouncing like a pinball and she is not well when it happens. She used to be within 50 points difference, oh well.Hi Laura, I'm curious as to why the vet thinks she's not responding to the insulin? What's wrong with that lovely 75 you got yesterday?
Sorry this meter you're using now takes more blood, have you thought about trying some different meters? I found the Relion Prime needed more than Luci was willing to give up every time - so I use the OneDrop meter - I still love the fact that I'm paying $50 a month for unlimited strips and a meter - so I'm never in a panic about having to find the darn strips...I get a box of 300 shipped whenever I ask...since some days we test more than others, I couldn't tell you what a relief that's been to me mentally.
Yes Luci underwent an I-131 procedure on 1/11 as she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in November - she was losing a lot of weight in spite of eating very well. She had diarrhea and just wasn't doing very well...so that's what they found. Since then she's gaining weight and is doing quite well. Waiting for the result of the labs which were drawn yesterday to find out where her thyroid levels are currently - sometimes after the I-131 they become hypothryoid...if it's not one thing it's another with these cats!
I do hope you can get to the bottom of Chanel's health issues!
Being high is not better overall, but the body adapts to certain values and learns how to live with them. Bouncing on the other hand hurts (not like a toothache, of course) the body and they do not feel well. This is what I have been told by someone who has diabetes since she was 7.I don’t think being high is better than bouncing. Being above renal threshold hurts the kidneys.

The vet thinks it might be the bouncing that may be a reason for her not responding to this insulin anymore. Chanel was not able to regulate on Lantus and once changed on Levemir, she was able to become stable. Being high and stable is better than going up and down like walnuts, right?
Sorry to hear about Luci and the thyroid issue. I hope she feels better. I still remember the video with her running with a cast, and hey I cannot remember it without smiling. Kiss her for me!!!
