Sandy’s numbers have been good. He’s had ff gravy couple of times because he didn’t want to eat the pate and it’s clear that makes his number go up some.
After his number domes back down to normal numbers.

I'm glad to read that you have caught up with sleep, and that Sandy is doing well, even jumping up on the counter.
And especially relieved to here that your family member has only had mild covid, and recovered well.

I laughed when I read that Sandy and his pal have taken over your sons room. :joyful: but it does give you some flexibility. It's hard work being the food police. George is 21 so now he can't jump on the counter, so I have a spot where the young ones can have some food out and graze, so I don't have to be on 24hr waitress service, at night George sleeps on his own (he prefers it) the others are all together.

5 large dogs and 3 more cats
I'm guessing the dogs eat all their food up so that won't be an issue LOL

Any suggestions on kibble he can have? I’ve heard young again? I forget who makes it.
If you have cats that are kibble addicts or you want to have something to leave out at times then Young again is an option, Dr Elseys, and Ziwi peak, all do some dry that is low in carbs so it won't be a disaster if he were to get into it. ( we don't get any of those here in europe so I'm not the best person to ask.)

Personally
On a good note, I’m putting out wet food in the main feeding area too and my other cats are absolutely loving it!
I like this option better, thats what we have done all the kitties are on a wet LC diet. They only get kibble when we go on vacation, because the cattery won't feed them wet.

You probably haven't read this post by Dr Lisa since you have had you have had your hands full since you came on your board, not time for sleeping much less reading!

You might want to experiment with some different flavours varieties of wet food and rotate them, although kitties will eat the same brand dry day after day, with their wet they seem to like a change.

Nice cycle so far and good job both testing and collecting information. :bighug::D
Sandy is looking great Liza. You must be so pleased!
yeah he is I’m so happy. But he did get to dry kibble last night that other cats were eating. I’m very careful about putting it away but my husband gave them a little and they didn’t finish it and Sandy saw the opportunity. He had about 2 minutes worth.

I hope he's a slow eater:eek: or he was just sniffing it.
It's high risk with the dry around.

Lovely start this morning.

Cats are real opportunists aren’t they?
Your idea of swapping to the low carb dry food is a good idea for the other cats. Then if he does get to it, it won’t be as bad.
Could you swap them all to low carb wet or is it too expensive or they won’t eat it?
Sandy will be a diet controlled diabetic for life so it’s really important he only has access to low carb food.
SS is looking good!

So normally it wouldn’t be a problem financially. But with Sandy’s recent ER stay and medical bills it’s added up to 7,000 in under 1 month. Today unfortunately I took another vet bill hit because I had to bring in one of my dogs to be seen as he was throwing up undigested food and I worried about bloat of a blockage. Thankfully it was neither but still cost me another $437. Si at this point it is financially impossible for me to be feeding 2-3 cans daily to the 4 cats. I honestly have nothing left and even had to resort to asking a local shelter for help with food for this month. So for now Sandy is the only one getting fancy feast regularly, although my other cats want and cry for the fancy feast too.
Hopefully I will have no other emergencies in the near future and will be able to recover financially from this too to get them all on a better diet.

Yes I know. I hope I can get them all on a better wet food diet, but financially I just can’t afford it with all the accumulated vet bills in the last month.

Sandy

I’d like to get him started on a trial but we’d appreciate it if you would start a new condo. Once you make a new condo for today, I can move posts from today to it and post instructions.[/QUOTE
I’m sorry dealing with 2 other pets sick at home and I haven’t logged in today.
I’m a little confused of what trial?
Sandy has been doing really good for past few days and I’m not sure I want to change anything at this time unless he shows signs he’s not doing ok.
