Good morning!

Has anyone else noticed their sugar baby's appetite decrease as BG levels come down? Pearl's eating patterns are definitely shifting, and she isn't consuming as many calories. She is also getting more choosy so I use Origen food toppers a looooot now, o_O

I'm hoping she keeps up her green trend :D

Have a nice day everyone!

Definetely! Before Hercules was diagnosed, we noticed him becoming despertae for food. There was nothing safe in the house. He would eat bread and broccoli, and would be miaowing in our face. We though was cute that he kept tapping on us to get more food.... I had no idea!

Now, I can even leave his food on the counter and he wont eat it 8 out of 10 times....

That is good to know! Broccoli, that is desperate!!

Pearl is a social eater, and even if she is hungry she won't eat it often if I am not there - feeding to her by finger. Even if she is REALLY hungry, I will come over by her and she hasn't touched her food. Then, I will start to feed her myself and she will clean her plate! You think she will crack and eat on her own overnight - nope! Crazy girl!

I've had a fe male and female cats, and in my experience all my 3 females were "polite" eaters which required company... weird!

Well, Gracie was a “live to eat” cat :p instead of “eat to live” so she’s always clean her plate whenever I gave her food so I’m not good judge but, theoretically, as their BG comes down and their bodies start to use the foods properly to fuel them, the appetite might decrease a bit.

Pearl, our girl....you are rockin’ it!!!

Yes, her appetite is definitely decreased, and peaks at different times than it used to. When her BG is lower, sometimes I can only get her to eat that 3% food, nothing else. She is a mystery to me!

Lovely day today and you are doing a great job with the food. With that +1 with no food spike, she might come back down again tonight.

I bet you are exhausted.

Thank you for the encouragement. I am waiting and preparing for the drop. I will give it till +4 to happen. I am really tired yes, mostly just stressed till I get enough data to understand her patterns at this level of the game now!

Butters acts like she is constantly starving when her BGs are higher and unregulated. Once her numbers came down a little, she ate less and also became more of a discerning food connoisseur (aka she became picky:rolleyes:).
Very nice numbers! Great job with the testing, Margaret.

Hi Lyla, thanks! Yes, the food thing is something I am still scratching my head over. Pearl sometimes now chooses not to eat at all, and that can send me into a wee panic. She would always eat her 3% carb food if I gave it (her fave, Venison) (but for Pearl that is actually in the "MC" category so I try not to give it unless I canNOT coax her into anything else at all. She is a smart cookie and onto me!) Butters is doing just fantastic, I stopped by your condo today ;)

Argh. The food thing is so frustrating. Sometimes I end up having to pour some tuna juice onto Butters food, or sprinkle it with freeze dried chicken treats. Sometimes those tricks work, sometimes not. I'm making her homemade raw food and she seems to be addicted to Bison so I am feeding her a lot of that these days.
Have you seen the list of foods on Tanya's CRF site? http://www.felinecrf.org/canned_food_usa.htm
It is very up-to-date and while the foods are listed in order of Phosphorus content, they list the % carbs and there are many options <3%. Maybe worth a look if you need more options for her.
Thanks for stopping by my condo:)

LOL, I never know what to say there, Butters is so active!! And yes, Pearl is so picky and can only eat certain things b/c of the IBD - I am lucky I have anything she even tolerates!!
Oh yes, the IBD (and food pickiness) does add a lot of complications. I don't know if you've ever considered raw food for Pearl, but here's a good website on that if you're interested: http://www.rawfeedingforibdcats.org/
It's okay! You don't ever have to comment on Butters' condo. It's totally fine to be a lurker;). No comments needed:).
I think Pearl has reached the beach! Surf it, Pearl! Soooo close to the lagoon.
