2/7 Belly AMBG 120 +121 106 +125 101

Hi. Your ss is not updated correctly. Today is the 7th and your numbers are on the 5th rather than the 6th. Start a new condo today with the amps please.

She so close but if she were my cat I would try a drop of insulin. Ideally you want her bg to be between 50-80. You would need to get a +1 and +2 and maybe test throughout the day depending on her numbers. At night you would need a +2 and perhaps need to set alarms to test. Otherwise is not safe to shoot.

i'm a little scared of the tiny doses, of getting it wrong, and her dropping too much.
so does eating make their BG go up or down? i thought it was up?

Food will cause the bg to go up after eating. If the pancreas is working, the bg will go down 2-4 hours after eating. Many give their cat a snack at +9 to see if the bg is green at AMBG and pmbg. Why don’t you try that? Don’t shoot. Belly is at the high end of normal.

i'm going to monitor how today goes.
What should be the ideal night schedule? i will look into an automatic feeder.

I’ve started a new thread as it is our policy to do a new condo per cat every day. Please do take a few minutes to read our posting guidelines. Thanks so very much.

So you have no wiggle room at all in your schedule to be able to shoot a little earlier? While her BG is better, I agree she could do with a drop. She’s not quite where we need her to be yet to say she’s in remission and we want kitties to have a strong remission. If they don’t, they are invariably back here, sometimes within a few months. We want Belly to do well enough that she can maintain remission.

My mistake I didn’t know I had to start a new post.
I can shoot earlier yes, but doesn’t that mean I also have to feed her an hour earlier? That’s when it gets a little more difficult and would mean waking up an hour earlier.

I realized today that I would test her bg throughout the day without considering her meal times. Today I made sure I only tested 3 hours after meal and got some better numbers.

what number should be the threshold number between shooting and not shooting? I originally thought it was 120?
Thanks

We test, feed, shoot in 15 minutes. Have you been feeding her an hour before her shot?

Members with data, as you have, shoot everything above 90 when doing SLGS.

i feed her early morning. Wait 2 hours then test and shoot. Should I be doing it differently?

Yes. When you feed after nadir, it’s like putting the brakes on the action of the insulin. It can decrease duration.

If you don’t need the tab labeled “sheet 3” on her SS, just click on the dropdown arrow at the right side of that tab and select “delete”.

As Marje just said, you test, feed, shoot all within 10 minutes or less. For example, I would test Max at 6:00 and feed him. Then I would shoot by 6:10. So I guess you are feeding him at 8:30? Test him at 8:20, feed and then shoot.

Ahhhh ok, got it!
So tomorrow I’ll do that all around 8:30.
So unless she’s under 90, I should shoot a drop? i can try this, though I’m intimidated by this tiny dose.
wish me luck!

To shoot a drop, push the plunger in and hold it, insert in the pen, let go of the pressure on the plunger and it will draw a drop. When you insert the needle into Belly, push the plunger and count to ten if she will let you.

So will this let you also test, feed, shoot at 8:30 at night and then get a +2 and before bed?

yes I will move the shoot time to 8:30 giving me time to check on her +2 or +3 at night
