Shadow was officially diagnosed with acromegaly. I had a hectic work schedule this weekend and was not able to get any mid cycle readings from him after moving his dose from 9 to 9.5U

He had a low PS the day I started my long weekend, so for 2 cycles he received reduced doses of 3U. My uncle who is staying with us is a nurse at a local hospital and he was able to get a couple of spot checks for me to help calm my nerves, but nothing really substantial.

It looks like Shadow is looking at a potential hypo.
His +5 was 60 on a RelionPrime. He was given a can of FF Naturals at that point (dude was starving and hadn't eaten for 5 hours)
His +6 came in at 51. I gave him a TBSP of Gravy Lover's

I am getting ready to test and get a +6.5

Is there anything else I should be doing? Is testing every 30 minutes waiting too long?

I'm excited to finally see a green, but pretty nervous as this is the lowest I've ever gotten him!
 
You did exactly the right thing. You can get a test in 20-30 minutes to make sure he doesn’t drop under 50. Oh, and breathe! Congrats on hitting green. I’ll check back for your next test.

We are at 56 for his +6.5
Thankfully we are going up slightly! Will check again at his +7 to make sure he's still going up and staying in the safe range

Google Sheets likes to throw me into "View Only" mode pretty often. Not sure how to fix that issue, I just work around it and add back to the spreadsheet when it lets me again
+7 is 53. I gave him some MC food and will check again soon!

So we are at 82 for our PMPS. I know the goal is to find a dose that we can hold steady to keep his numbers in a safe range, but I've also never experienced any greens with him before this dose of 9.5. Is that the sign that 9.5 is the go to dosing and I should go ahead and give that again now to avoid a bounce later, or is this a situation where I should back off and give a smaller dose or even skip the dose?
I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about what I'm doing here. I want to get him regulated for sure, I'm just nervous because of the amount he's required to hit these lows
 
Sorry nobody got back to you. I see you gave a token dose. This was a very nice cycle. He would have likely bounced from dropping to lower bg than he’s used to be in. With SLGS a reduction was earned by falling under 90. As to tomorrow morning’s dose, I’m going to look at your ss and tag Wendy for her input as well. She’s our expert on ACRO.

At what point did you stop feeding to keep him up? I’m pretty sure your dose in the morning will be 9.0.
 
Congrats on your first green! :D With Elise along to help, you guys did a great job managing the numbers. And Shadow did an amazing long "surf" hanging out in those green numbers. How did he handle them? Neko hid under the bed her first greens. :rolleyes:

Since there are cycles when you can't get mid cycle tests (or be around to feed like you did today), I'd go back to 9 units tomorrow.

Over time, and as you gather data, you'll find it easier to shoot those lower preshots. The first times I shot blue or green, Neko bounced right away, which was rather anti-climatic after I finally screwed up the courage to shoot them. :p For data gathering purposes, it'd be good to get a +2 tonight to see what Shadow is up to. With a larger depot, it can also influence the cycle after a decrease, so that test will also be to make sure he behaves tonight.

I stopped feeding to keep him coasting at his +7. He received a TBSP of MC then and some no-carb chicken around +10

Thank you! It was definitely exciting and terrifying at the same time for me! He did rather well with it. He slept for a lot of it, but he did have enough energy at one point to come out on the porch with me to enjoy the sunshine and the random nice afternoon.

I will continue to monitor his numbers tonight (we were supposed to do a curve on his 9.5U today because of the low information gathered over the weekend) and keep his spreadsheet updated as well.
 
Ugh, bounce. :rolleyes: Sweet while it lasted, but you get some good sleep tonight. But it does tell you that you can try a higher "reduced dose" next time, if not the full dose.
