so what I mean by that is- I haven’t been able to get nadirs as often as I would like or think I should be getting with TR. I know +1,+2 is good enough to stay on TR but how can you really know how a cycle went without getting more nadirs- and the ones I did get are below 100.
there was one reading January 27 where her PM was 70 and then it spiked the whole rest of the cycle- which could have told me she dropped too low during the cycle before that- but how low? Low enough to warrant a decrease? So that is why I hung around with 2 units for a while but according to TR I really should have increased her by now- which is what I did today..
my new vet (who has had a lot of diabetic felines) told me the technical name for the “bounce” is the Somogyi effect. So could that have happened I wouldn’t really know because I didn’t take recordings but from the look of it it very well could have?
Has she been bouncing this whole time or does she need an increase?

oh also- do cats on TR still need a curve done once a week?

I think you test enough. She does bounce when she goes under 100. When you see a +2 lower than the pretest can you set an alarm around +6 at night or +6?

Ya I could for night time- I luckily got one today during the day. Her PMPS is 69

You might want to give her a little higher lc carbs now to prop her up.
Didn’t notice this in time- but fed her more LC after her +2
I don’t think I have a higher carb LC- but I could make it? Add a little bit of the high carb to it? Like a drop?

I want her to stop bouncing- I wonder if there’s an altered TR for cats that bounce any time they hit a low but still high number.

She’s over a year diabetic. As long as you keep a close eye on her you can wait for 3 drops under 50. You can also ret shaving the dose when you decrease, 1/8 decreases instead of 1/4 if you use calipers. Of course if ever under 40 it’s an automatic.25 reduction.

I remember you saying that one time!
I do use calipers - the syringes are always slightly off I don’t know how anyone doesn’t use them!

You will folks write s for short or f for a fat dose which means they are shaving the dose. I did that with Max as well as the 3 drops in the 40’s. I hope this helps.

Oh Boy! Wouldn't that be fabulous if there was a modified TR for bounces???? I would be jumping (no pun intended) right on that. It looks like our sweet kitties, are both bouncy & have been DX'd around the same time. Blues, greens, she bounces to them all. Sometimes a slooow defying gravity-like bounce and sometimes like hitting a tramp with all her might. I wish there was an answer, too. :bighug:
