28/01 - Hercules AMPS 182, +8 45, PMPS 135, +2 247, +3.5 173

yes. At +2 I gave his usual feed + 1tbs of LC. At 2.5 I gave him 10g of LC so I felt was safe to go out for a run....

This where we want to keep him, no? I thought giving him a tbs would keep him there instead of dropping since we are early in the cycle?

Hi Karen! I'm just seeing your spreadsheet now for the first time - and I am so impressed with Hercule! And he's had a great cycle today! I showed it to miss Pearl, told her to look and learn from a master ;)

Lovely cycle, Karen! Could you update the thread title with his latest numbers. Easy for us lazy folks to keep track. :p

ok, HC has done its work... I just order anothe box of goumet gold tins... we are going through them quite fast all of a sudden.

Wow you're managing his numbers great today.
It's so scary when the numbers drop like that so early in the cycle because you kow you still have all those hours to go. That's what Buddy started doing too. I wonder if that could indicate that pancreas are starting to contribute? Nevertheless even though it's scary this might be the dose that he needs right now.

no I failed!!

Just checked and he is at at 45!!!:arghh:

Gave him HC and a lick of honey (he hates it!). Shall I reduce the dose for tonight?

Woah Hercs! Talk about a googly!

Good catch, Karen. Don't beat yourself up. Sometimes when they want that reduction they will ask for it at all odd times! :-)

Yes, he has earned a dose reduction. Check him again in half an hour.
How much HC did you feed him?

Another half an hour and he dropped a bit again.. 77

I gave him another tbs of HC, despite how late we are because I am starting to worry about him being high enough at PMPS. He probably will shoot through the roof now....

77 and 85 are more or less the same number given meter variance. :-)

So he was 45 at +8, 85 at +8.5 and 77 at +9?

What is the HC%? Might make sense to go easy on the HC. What do you have in LC (carb%) and MC?

I agree! But given he had just eaten HC 1 hour ago, and I wasn't convinced was doing much....

The only MC I have is the Purina diabetes food. I believe is 13%?
His usual LC is ~ 3%
I am not sure how high the LC is.... I bought a box of mixed falovours gourmet gold on gravy for emergencies. Never planned to use so much...

I'll check him in 30 minutes again.

It is probably very late for you, so please don't feel you need to stay up with me. But if you could give me a game plan for shooting tonight I'd appreciate. Shoot 0.75 no matter what? Thank goodness I got some sleep last night!

Not sure you can find your food here to check carb%
https://catinfo.org/chart/index.php

Don't worry, you are not keeping me up. Bandit is! Suddenly her onset and nadirs are later and she is throwing these low numbers at me at 1am!

I think Hercs will bounce at some point, so insulin would be good. Remember not to feed him after +10 because you definitely do not want a food influenced PS number tonight!

You know the drill. If you get a low number, stall without feeding and test in 20 mins to see if he is rising or falling. Since you will be testing him every hour till PMPS, even that may not be necessary. If he is higher or flat at PMPS than he was at +10 and +11, it's safe to shoot the 0.75U. You might have to stay up monitoring him for at least the first part of the cycle.

You are seeing great numbers, so you don't want to lose the momentum by skipping unless absolutely unavoidable.

I will not be around (I hope! Please oblige, Bandit!) but you can post here for help. Put something like "HELP! STALLING PM SHOT!" in your title to get eyes on your condo.

@tiffmaxee should be around.

I’ve got the little cans of gourmet gold chunks in gravy and I calculated that all four flavors had 31% carbs. 4x 85gram cans and the flavors are beef, salmon and chicken, turkey and duck, chicken and liver. Are these the same ones? :)

He didn't bounce too much about after his adventures in the green on the 27/01 PM.... So although I usually cont on him bouncing, I am not as sure as I used to...

ive him a little HC.
Done, just on the nick of time. :) I'll try to not give him anything else until shot time. I'll keep checking as he semms to sometimes have a second dip closer to PM

ETA: Keep his numbers updated in the thread title and the SS

sorry! I though it would become the world longest titles... was just keeping the headlines.... would it be ok to remove the earlier values? not sure about the ettiquette...

The second dip at PS is the Lantus "double dip" - a second dip at PS which is not as low as the nadir.

Yeah, just keep the highlights :-) Definitely the 45!

Please don't say this! Take it back! this morning look quite calm until you said would be interesting.....:rolleyes:
OK. I take it back. But Hercs has already read it! :p

Good luck tonight. I'm testing Bandit now and I hope to be able to call it a night. Touch wood!

I have shot Hercules low, but I am concerned he may or may not bounce, and in the last two days I had to prop him with lots of HC.

He earned a reduction from the 45, but would it be safe to give him his new reduced dose in full (0.75U) tonight, or should i go with 0.5 just for tonight to keep his depot going, but slow things a bit?

Thanks for your help!

We prefer long threads, so all the action is in one spot for the day. You can update your subject line with new questions.

He did earn a reduction to 0.75 units. Even if you went to 0.5 units for just tonight, the depot may still control what happens the first part of tonight.

With multiple threads per day, you get people posting on different threads, not keeping the discussion for the day all in one place. In general, smaller is better too. :) But you've have an exciting day, so it's longer.

The decision on what to shoot is yours. His new dose is 0.75 units. If you shoot less, it may or may not give you a break tonight for the first part of the cycle. There is also the possibility he'll bounce. My crystal ball is a bit foggy at the moment. ;)
