Kabosu has been on 2U Lantus for five days now. We've seen a few yellow numbers, but mostly pink and some red. Every day his AMPS and PMPS has been a few points lower than previous day, but we're still far from green and even blue numbers.

Should I increase the dose?

P.S. He is also on doxybactin for his UTI. He's been vomiting quite a bit these days as well, could be because of the antibiotic.

Hi, Is that a ukulele in the photo with Kabosu? Does he have a recording contract? Just curious.

I see on your spreadsheet that you are following TR. That's wonderful. Could you please add TR to your signature as your dosing method and remove the actual dose you are giving Kabosu?

Doses will change so frequently that inevitably we forget to update them in our signatures at some point so we no longer include them:). Thank you:cat:

I would definitely increase his dose. He’s had time to fill the depot at this dose.

Under the TR protocol, even with cats new to Lantus, we would raise the dose after six cycles with BGs so high and flat. I would increase his dose to 2.25u and increase again after six cycles if you see no nadirs below 200.

Good luck with the increase.

I would go one step further and, in your signature block, I’d delete the Caninsulin info as well. You have it on your SS and that’s fine. Thank you!

Thank you everyone!

I added a link to the previous post.

Sorry about the vomiting...are you giving any meds for the pancreatitis/triaditis?
No, but he stayed on the fluids in the hospital for 48 hours.

Yes :D He is a bit like Puss in Boots with his guitar, wandering around entertaining people for food :D

Will do, thanks!

I tried to give him 2.25 today, but I still only have syringes with 1 unit marks only, and it's hard to measure 0.25 there. I phoned all the pharmacies in the area, and check a lot of online ones, and could barely find the syringes I have now, no trace of the ones with 1/2 units. I saw them online but they either won't ship to Ireland, or the delivery costs 50 euros! I am considering going to 2.5 tonight. At this point I am not sure he would go hypo, he's mostly in pink or red number and has only had something on the higher end of yellow a few times...

With his BGs where they’ve been, and as long as you plan on doing testing to monitor, it should be fine to take him to 2.5u. While the TR protocol discusses increases of 0.5u where nadirs are above 300, he hasn’t had that many nadirs below 300. Of course, if you start getting tests in the below 300 range before the next shot, I wouldn’t increase to 2.5u.
