Talked with Tyler's Vet Last Night

Hi everyone, well I sent Tyler's SS to my vet and she was so impressed. I told her it was because of all of you and your advice and your guidance.

I explained to her what @+1 , @+2 etc means
Also how we do a trial, drop dose , etc

She said to me you should come in and teach our patients all about testing, lol
I questioned her about how many hours do they learn about diabetes and she told me that it's not that much, they have to focus on other diseases.

She was so happy that he's in remission.

He hasn't been to see her in over a year, so I'm going to take him in next week for routine blood work.
Then she will also look at his teeth, which I told her it looks like he needs a cleaning.

I told her good luck trying to get a good look, he will try to probably bite her like he did to me.
She said don't worry , she will get a good look.

I asked her about how much it would be for the cleaning
She said with the x-ray, anesthesia cleaning and polishing about 300.00
Does that sound reasonable?

I am so lucky to have a vet like her, been going to her for close to 20 years .

I will keep you all posted about his blood work and put it on his SS

Then will let you all know when he goes for the cleaning.
Thank you all again for your help ♥:bighug::bighug::cat:

That sounds very inexpensive for a dental procedure. I'm assuming she's doing this under anesthesia?
Hi Sienne, yes it is under anesthesia, they are really reasonable with their prices, the
other place I used to go to was taken over by corporate.

Dr Beeber was the owner and then sold it. I would see him also and then Dr Sass who is my vet. They worked together.
There were about 6 vets there.
He then opened up another place which I have been going to for over 4 years now. Dr Sass went along with him.
Dr Berber and Dr Pla are the owners . Dr Sass works there 6 days a week and will
works her butt off lol

Dr Beeber also has 2 other locations besides the one I see Dr Sass at.

He doesn't keep raising his prices, a lot of the patients followed him and Dr Sass .
She also gives me a little bit of a break sometimes .

That is very inexpensive. I wondered the same thing as Sienne....did that include anesthesia?

I’m glad you showed her your hard work!!

Yes it did include the anesthesia, I just called her back to make sure and she said yes.
When Perry was on cerenia , I asked the owner if he could give me a break because of having 2 cats with medical problems and he lowered the price for me.
I paid 28.00 for 8 cerenia pills 24 mgs.
I even called her again this morning Thurs 1-28 and yes it is 300.00 including everything

I think Luci's dentals are around $400...she doesn't have many teeth left either.

So glad your vet is able to see the results of your efforts first hand! So many vets need to hear and see what can be done about FD. It is not a fatal disease!

Hi Sue, Thank you for the info, My vet is open to anything I run by her.
I'm so lucky to have her .

That's great that she was open to the input and advise! My vet didn't propose BG testing at home because he thought it would be too much for us! Our cats can surprise us with their resilience, and it's much better and easier than being blind. I hope she is encouraged to do more research. Hope everything goes well for Tyler with his teef - $300 is pretty darn low!

@RachelG Hi Rachel, From the very start she suggested I home test.
I called again this morning to make sure I heard right about the cost of the cleaning.
Yes it included everything anesthesia, X-Rays, cleaning, and polishing
300.00 .
He is going for blood work on Feb 4th and look at his teeth
Then I will make an appt for the cleaning.
Give kisses to Fortune for me and I hope you can get in with the internal specialist soon. Have a good day :bighug::cat:
