She has never been this low this close to pmps/shot. I know the deal, stall, don't feed....wait until she she is above 50 to shoot....but I also know that she is exceptionally sensitive to carbs. The question is....I really do not want to NOT give her insulin. She will most definitely bounce from this, and this is probably a rebound from a bounce from the 57 yesterday am. SO....BCS it will have to be. What should I shoot? I'm thinking 1.5/1?????.....thoughts appreciated.

She is jonesing for food.

Not showing any outward signs of hypo

  • 40s or lower – you have a couple of choices.
    • When 40s occur at the end of the cycle, it can be beneficial to withhold food and test in 15-20 minutes to determine if kitty is on the rise or hasn’t reached nadir yet.
    • If they are hanging in the 40s for a while, or if they are still dropping, it is ok to feed a tsp or two of LC and retest. This is very tricky. You want to avoid feeding too much while you’re waiting for them to go over 50, because you don’t want to artificially inflate the number with food.

Looks like she is on the rise. Gave her 1/3 of her normal amount of LC. Will test again after she is done @ appx 12.25. She normally gets her shot now, but 1/2 hour later or so won't make too much of a difference.Should I reduce to 2.0 for safety's sake and bring it back up to 2.25 in the am?

No, just reduce to 2.25u tonight. However, you want to be sure she doesn’t have too much of a food spike when you test her before you shoot. Be cautious. If she’s just up I to the 50s, go ahead and shoot 2.25u. If she’s in the 100s, you could be looking at a food spike that might come back down pretty quick.

This is the correct procedure for 40s. When she first got the 30s, she definitely needed a little LC and get her out of the 30s.

Thank you. That will definitely be remembered. It doesn't look as if she is rising from the food.... yet, I may have tested too soon. Will test again in 5-10. MC will bring her up too fast. No insulin is out of the question..she will fly sky high, probably into the red zone if I skip. It will take forever to get her back down to normal numbers, and there's the uncertainty of how low she will go when the bounce clears. I have actually shot a 48 (accidentally) but there were no repercussions. I know...what happened before is not guaranteed now. :) I can wait this out and adjust dose & time.

As long as she stays in the 40s, don’t feed anymore but keep testing. You can shoot up to two hours late if she rises. However, after two hours, it’s best to just skip as it becomes too hard to make up the time.

OK. We are good to go. 58 @12.5 Feeding the rest of her food, and will shoot reduced dose of 2.25. Fingers crossed! Lets hope for a bit of a bounce. OMG I can't believe I just said that!!!

She is SO food sensitive. The day I see a lower/even number at +1-3.5 will be the day I know she might, just maybe, be headed to the "r" word. Otherwise, I'm happy she gets greens in the later part of the cycle, i.e.: +5/6-11/12. I hope she doesn't fail the reducie! :cat:

@Teri & Disco NoFurNo (GA) Hi Teri! Hope you and your other two kitties are doing well & still taking adventures when you can. I miss you two! Wishing you happier times and hope that Mr. Disco's memory and paw prints on your heart soften and make you smile.
