Hello. I just started using lantus pens instead of the vial. My question is that is the rubber stopper in the lantus pens tougher then the vial ? I felt like it was and was afraid to dull my syringes.

I never noticed that.
It’s been a while since I been on. Nice to see you. Ok Bc I thought maybe the pens had a thicker rubber. I think my new vial felt like that before. Maybe because it’s new ?I was afraid it was thicker and going to dull my needles

Nice to see you post. I don’t see any mid cycle tests. Gentle reminder that it could help. It’s been 4 years since I dealt with insulin so I can’t answer as to whether it’s because it’s new. I used pens after throwing out two half full vials and never had a problem with dull needles though.

Ok. I’m going to be testing more. I was sick last week. Didn’t fill in my chart properly. If you didn’t notice any dulling of needles or the rubber stopper was thicker. I don’t know why it would be thicker. I just got nervous.

I'm new to using Lantus pens. I had thought the pens needed to be refrigerated continuously even after use but just read something that said they should be kept at room temperature once used. Can someone clarify? Also, how long are pens good for one I've started using one?

Lantus does need to be refrigerated. You use a syringe to give the insulin just like you do with the vial.
