Yesterday the methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) arrived from Vitacost and I slipped a half capsule of it to Ruby's food this morning undetected. Yay. :woot: Had been reading about its benefits for sugar and ckd kitties and seems like it could do wonders or it just gets peed out, so it can't hurt. Also, after much hand wringing, public and private conversations here and in Tanya's support group, I decided to move forward with subQ for Ruby, starting with 50 mls twice a week. Awaiting the arrival of the thinner Terumo needles and we'll be on our way to better hydration.

Healing thoughts to all of the sick kitties and hugs to you beans who love them so. Have a beautiful day, everyone! :bighug::bighug:

Best of luck with the subQ fluids! I'd love to hear how it goes since I imagine at some point I'll have to do it for Butters. Right now I'm just doing a 1:1 ratio of food to water for her.
Have a great day:bighug:

Good luck with the fluids and the methylcobalamin - we all just do the best with the information we have and that's all anyone can do :bighug: FWIW zobaline + regulation helped Jax's neuropathy soooo much.

Nice start for Ruby :cat: Hope you have a wonderful day!

Morning Katherine, good luck with the fluids, Ruby is looking so good.
I used to give the fluids to Tyler's brother who passed this Oct.
He was so good that he would lay on his side while I was giving them and purr.
I would put a towel on the kitchen table and lay Perry on it and put one of these on the wall, my kitchen table was up against the wall so I would put one of these on the
wall and hang the bag on them. Put the hook up high on the wall
I'll show you the hooks below

Don't worry, will be chronicling my journey here for sure. ;) Ruby's had a lot of bloodwork since September and all of the signs are pointing to solid onset of the disease, even if we don't see clinical signs of it yet. Ruby drinks about a cup of water a day through her food, so if she gets another ¼ cup in subQ a few times a week for now, it might help her feel more comfortable.

Really happy to hear that the zobaline helped Jax. Ruby doesn't have any neuropathy that I can tell, but it can help reduce inflammation, improve adrenal function and prevent anemia (common in ckd cats) among so many other things. It sounds so good I might start taking some as well! :p

I only hope that Ruby will be as good about it as your precious Perry was. :bighug:Thanks for the tip about the hook!
