Good morning!
Chilly in south Florida this morning! 46 degrees!!
I had to use a warm rice sock on monkeys ear to get a sample!

I sent my vet a 2 month status update with
Numbers , doses, history... etc... along with the AAHA info. Just to let him know how serious we are taking this though I’m sure he knows .....
Awaiting his response for permission to increase dose....... will keep you posted. ( though I hold the syringe, I like keeping him in the loop )

I don't give dosing advice but you could ask a question in your title about increasing. You don't want to hold a dose too long as you don't want glucose toxicity. And FWIW, I don't really talk to my vet about FD - we just have a mutual understanding I'm managing it - I put a copy of Jax's SS on his vet portal profile in case he wants to look at it.

I agree but because it’s a new vet for us I’m trying to build rapport ... gain trust and educate without seeming like a know it all while balancing self care for monkey. If that makes sense.???

This is how I approach things with Butters' vet who we've only had for a couple of months. In my opinion it should be a collaborative effort so as long as the vet is willing to listen and work with you.

totally get it - just a tough balance. I personally just communicate more of "this is what I'm doing and why" and build rapport that way (versus asking for permission). My vet has no ego with FD and is open to listening (he hasn't quite come around to learning...more of just accepting of how I'm managing it ). I personally rely on FDMB and the dosing methods to keep Jax safe with regards to insulin. Just my two cents - everyone manages things differently

I haven’t heard back yet.... and believe me.. I do worry about glucose toxicity @JaxBenji but I am so scared of her going low and I’m not there to help her. I am taking the increase tonight. Her PMPS 283.
I just bumped her up to 3 units.
My philosophy is that it should be a collaborative approach with the vet - even though he wanted to start her right off at 2 units, recommended purina dm kibble, and spoke highly against home testing.
I am slowly showing him my data....

He still holds a license and did a lot of work to get that license, but it’s my job to arm him with my data and experiences with intelligent questions. I hold the syringe and I love my cat more than he ever could.

This is what matters Kit's beans are spot on that you'll figure out this little tight rope with the vet. I was just trying to share my experience - you'll find your own path with your vet
