So with the SLGS method...

So with this method I'm targeting a number that was almost identical to what I was do with Prozinc, no shot under 100-110.

" We usually don't suggest or recommend shooting a preshot number less than 90 mg/dL when following the SLGS Method.

Can someone elaborate on this:
" Remember that with SLGS, generally speaking, your goal is to achieve flat numbers that are greater than 90 mg/dL."

As I read down through the SLGS link it seems very similar to the routine of Prozinc. Anything I should be particularly focused on with the switch to Lantus?

Nice to see those greens for Do Daa! Any idea when you are starting Lantus? If it’s in the next day or so, I’d suggest starting at 3.75u bid. Once in a while we see some lower numbers with the first shot of Lantus and since he’s seeing nadirs under 100 on PZ at 4u, it’s probably best to be a little conservative and start with 3.75u of Lantus. It won’t be much to increase his dose after the depot fills.

SLGS is the same for all the insulins we use on the board. The goal is to shoot anything 90 and above but, over time and with data on Lantus, you might be able to tweak that a little more downwards. At first. You might want to ask for help for any BG below 150 since Lantus does work differently than PZ and you aren’t used to dealing with a depot.

And yes, the goal is to have nadirs and nice flat cycles above 90 since SLGS is less aggressive than TR so the nadirs are higher.

I know you’ve been reading the stickys but the major thing to try and get your head around is we dose for the number we expect at nadir giving only some consideration to the PS. With PZ, you are dosing based on the PS primarily.

Glad to have you all with is!

Hi!

It's likely to be another 3-4 days, roughly, based on what's left of the Prozinc bottle.

This will take some time to get use to.... we won't really be knowing that number until we have a week or two or more of data on what Lantus is doing.

Yes. That’s why it’s important to try and fill the SS in like a puzzle. Get random tests each cycle as the depot fills.
