Yesterday Ruby spent much of the evening sitting right in front of the stove. We think she smelled a mouse. When nothing came of that, she "killed" a piece of kitchen twine (her favorite toy) and carried it in her mouth to me while yowling. It was the cutest thing ever. :cat:

Healing thoughts to all of the sick kitties and hugs to you beans who love them so. Two more days until Christmas! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I hope there is no mouse....or if there is that Ruby is helpful! We had a family of mice move into our patio grill over the summer...they were cute and alarming all at once :p Glad Ruby took care of that twin for you ;)

Have a great day, Katherine :bighug:

+6 = 115. This stretch of blues is a replay of a few days ago when Ruby was last on .25 units. Do I need better patience pants for this reduction? :bookworm: How many cycles should we wait before going back up again, and what should the next dose be?

I'd wait at least a couple cycles yet, to make sure any bounce is over. If you have to go back up, there are a couple options for you. Option 1 - try to find a dose between 0.5 and 0.25 - so just a little fatter than her current dose. Option 2 - go back up to 0.5 units, but feed her something a couple % points higher in carbs. So still LC, but higher LC. I see you are feeding some 7% already, so that doesn't leave a lot of room to increase the carbs and still be LC. The hope is that with a bit more carbs in her, she can safely get a bit more insulin.

Thank you for your thoughts on this, Wendy. I'll wait another two cycles before deciding, but Ruby's definitely throwing me a bit of a puzzle. Would very much like to increase her carbs and keep the .5 dose so she gets more insulin in her but as you noted I've already been doing that and it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. Ruby's pretty carb-resistant for a diabetic cat. I have to feed her close to 30% HC for her to come up from numbers in the 40s and it barely makes a difference in her numbers, nor does it keep her up for very long. I will try the fat .25/skinny .5 and see if I can keep the dose consistent by squirting out drops from .5. It's already hard for me to see .25, much less .375, and I can't seem to get the hang of using calipers.
