I'm feeling really anxious about Mo's appointment with the vet this afternoon. I'm worried that they're going to come back with some terrible news :(Fingers crossed his tests go well and we get some answers that we can work with.

I have noticed that his BG goes up slightly when we feed him Ziwipeak. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe there is something in it that doesn't agree with him. We started getting the yellows when we ran out of ziwipeak and fed him only on FF. We have cut out the Ziwipeak yesterday and his BG is gradually going down again. Hoping this will help anyway.

Hope you're all having a wonderful day! :bighug:

Keeping our paws crossed here for a non eventful vetty visit. :bighug:

Good to keep track of food as you are on the speadsheet, maybe a pattern will become evident. Are you feeding the same protein (meat) all the time?

I am with Gill on hoping you can convince your vet on faster increases. The current method is not working for the little sausage thief.

Thank you! I'll try do my best to include what we feed him on his spreadsheet. I'm not around every time he's fed as I'm a shiftworker, but I'll try. We aren't giving him the same meat all the time. It goes between chicken, beef and fish(sparingly).

I'll talk to the vet again about faster increases but she is adamant that I'm going to kill Mo by following TR o_O I'll see what she says if I say I can provide her proof that it won't happen. They were happy to increase Mo's dose by 1 unit every 2 weeks which is even worse. They're just not up to date with the latest research.

Depending on results of blood tests (ask her to humour you and insist on them), you may get proof you need to do something different re dosing. My vet wasn't up to date either, but that was before some of the recent papers on insulin resistance came out. Some people perfect the "smile and nod" with their vets regarding dosing.

I agree with Wendy! Do the smile and nod. I did that with my vet who similarly wanted me to increase every 2 or 3 weeks (!!!), but once he saw the results of the most recent fructosamine test he said, "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!" He is too harried to hear all about the TR protocol and it's fine with me. Feel free to show your vet Ruby's spreadsheet if you want to share an example of how a cat can become tightly regulated AND be bright, active, and happily ALIVE.
