Yup. Was indeed a food bump. If you got a +2, you can wait and get a +4 or +5. No need to test every hour unless she is near 50s or 60s.

Ok!! Except her main meal before the shots, she usually eats at +1, +2 and +3. But sometimes -like today- she is not very hungry and I end up feeding her later. Now she ate just a bit of her +2 meal ,so I think I 'll feed her at +4.
 
Hey Melita just seen your pmps +2 that is quite a big drop,
With Chnoudi that to me says she's going to give you an pretty active cycle, although she is not dangerously low, I would give her some MC with a drop like that at +2

The BCS does work even if she is bouncing, it reduces the size of the depot (the part of the insulin that goes into 'storage' for slow release) that in turn should reduce the overall effect of the dose.
Because of the depot, even when you take a BCS the early part of the cycle will often play out just as it would if you shot the full dose. So when you saw go from blue amps to yellow at +2 that would have probably happened even if you shot the higher dose. Faced with that mid blue in the morning, a number which showed she was rising significantly, was probably Chnoudi signaling her intention to bounce, I might have stuck with the 1.5u that morning. Having said that she did get back to green pretty quick, and hopefully it allowed you to get a bit of rest, which I can see that Chnoudi is determined to have you party every night.

Congrats on the first green amps, and good job shooting, she seems to be having a flat blue cycle so far, hope she plays fair tonight.

There has been some discussion in the previous cycles of when to use MC HC honey, with references to BG numbers and when in the cycle.

I wanted to expand on that a little more, as there is another factor, when deciding what you might feed, to help flatten her curve and hopefully avoid the bouncing altogether or at the very least help to minimise.
When you get a BG ask yourself
  • Where is this BG going?
  • Where is it coming from?
  • What part of the cycle am I in?
  • What 'should' her BG be doing
  • How low is this BG?
lets look at what you might expect from an active Lantus cycle taken from the Basics Sticky
Example of an ACTIVE, but NOT necessarily typical Lantus/Basaglar cycle:
NOTE: Until kitty is pretty well regulated, the description below is NOT not what you'd consider a "typical" Lantus/Basaglar cycle. It takes time and patience for kitty to achieve a "typical" cycle! The example below is what you're working towards (a nice shallow curve). A relatively flat cycle is the ultimate goal.

+0 - PreShot number.
+1 - Usually higher than PreShot number because of the last shot wearing off. May see a food spike in this number.
+2 - Often similar to the PreShot number. Onset begins around +2 for most cats. You'll probably see an active cycle if the +2 is the same/similar OR lower than the preshot number. Continue testing!
+3 - Often lower than the PreShot number.
+4 - Lower.
+5 - Lower.
+6 - Nadir/Peak (the lowest number of cycle. NOTE: ECID. Not every cat has a mid-cycle nadir. Adjust the hours on this example to fit your cat.)
+7 - Surf (hang around the nadir number).
+8 - Slight rise.
+9 - Slight rise.
+10 - Rising.
+11 - Rising (one of the quirks of Lantus/Basaglar/Levemir: some cat's blood glucose numbers dip around +10 or +11... not to be confused with nadir).
+12 - PreShot number.

What you can see if you look back through the ss is that when she has a sharp drop at +2 she seems to gather quite a bit of momentum, I would try feeding some MC when you catch a steep drop like that at +2, like she has done tonight It might help flatten her out. When she drops like that the LC doesn't seem to help level her off. Trying some MC might give you better results, allowing you to get ahead of the insulin. If at +2 she's about the same as PS, I would stick with LC, that seems to have worked for her in the past, so if you shot a 64 and +2 was 59 I would call that the same and feed LC. However like today even though that +2 is only just green it's more about the drop she's had and where that tells us she is likely to be heading at this point in the cycle.
The actual numbers are important, but it's just as, if not more, important to learn to look at them in context of where they are coming from, where you are in the cycle and what that tells you about where they are likely to be heading.

Wooooow!! :bighug:Thank you so much for all these useful information and observations! I read them carefully and I ll read them again tomorrow, with a clearer mind, just to be sure I've understood everything perfect!
I still have a lot of things to learn so I can use the food to flatten her curves. I'll be back with more comments tomorrow, I just woke up from a power napping, the truth is that I am absolutely exhausted, I hardly can write even this message.
I didn't see the previous post about the mc, so I gave her it now, at +4:66. I hope I did right.
 
Sorry nobody was around to answer. What did you do? I would have not fed as she is flat and hoping she will go up again so that you can call it a night.
