I have been up with Lucy for the past two hours. She has been completely fine (eating, drinking, playing, etc.) up until tonight. She has diarrhea, and has been going in and out of the cat box, and by that, I mean that she is both peeing/pooping outside of the cat box, as well as inside of it, and keeps going back and forth to it. She seems like she is straining quite a bit when she does go, and I see small amounts of blood in her urine. She also vomited once. She does not seem like she is feeling great which is not surprising considering what is going on, but is still acting semi-normal in that she is wanting to crawl up next to us on the couch and be near us. She was diagnosed with IBS a few months ago after an episode of pancreatitis, and has been in and out of the ER and vet with her several times in the past few months, and am running really rough financially from the trips. I wanted to see if anyone has any advice on what could be going on (IBS, UTI?) or something that can be addressed at home, or if she does need to go to the ER again. It is Sunday morning here, and her vet is closed until tomorrow.

Also, the vet gave me two spiked bag of fluids for her pancreatitis episode a month ago. I still have one spiked, but unused, bag left. Is it still any good? If not, is there any place that sells them?

Edit to add: I just gave her some food mixed with lots of water to try to get some fluids in her, and she went right for it and ate/lapped up quite a bit, so definitely still has an appetite. Her diarrhea and back and forth cat box trips have also stopped. She still seems irritated but over overall demeanor has improved. Still unsure of what to do.

Blood in the urine is almost definitely a UTI. She will need antibiotics. If the bag was spiked a month ago I am sure it's fine for another week or so. She will need a vet though.

Thank you so much for the reply. Assuming there are no critical changes and/or she does not get worse, is a UTI something that can be seen in a day (at her vet vs an ER)? I feel like I have experience with everything else but a UTI...surprisingly, she's never had one before.

I will give her some of these fluids as I am assuming that will help a UTI? As well as just make her feel better in general. I had trouble finding a consensus on the timeframe for the bag when I was researching.

My Patches (GA) used to have episodes of bloody urine. Bacteria/UTI was never found. At first antibiotics were given and the bloody urine cleared up. After that I just administered (with vet approval) pain meds. It was thought that the blood in the urine was caused by stress. It could be that Lucy's bloody urine coupod be caused by stress from whatever is causing the diarrhea. Yes, the diarrhea could be related to the IBS
