My dear friend’s CKD cat was just diagnosed with large cell lymphoma in the oral/nasal area.
This cat means to her what Alice means to me.

I figured someone here might:
1) know of any veterinary oncologists in the greater Detroit area?
2) have experience with this type of cancer? It sounds aggressive from my research so far.
3) suggest any non-profits that may assist with feline cancer care?
Thanks. <3

And I’m sorry I haven’t spent time on here in awhile or contributed. I miss Alice. I miss testing her, I miss everything. Someday I’ll be ready to come back and help and support and give back more.
Also... should this have gone in feline health? It’s not for a sugar cat.
I just know someone here has some valuable experience they can share. Thank you.

I’m so sorry I can’t help your friend with answers to any of these questions. But I think you’ll have a better chance of getting answers by posting on Health. It’s for all health problems, not just diab.

I'm so sorry for your friend, Cassandra :( My only direct experience with large cell lymphoma is when I lost my cat Min to it in 2012; she had it in her GI tract. It was very fast. By the time we had a solid diagnosis, it was too late to do anything.

Thanks. I’m sorry about Min. :(
I’m hoping that my friend can gain a little time, with chemo. Her cat, Khloe, is not having any symptoms so so I’m hoping it’s been caught early. I wonder how her kidneys disease will interact with chemo.

I’m also trying to help a local friend figure out a chronic severe diarrhea (IBD or lymphoma) issue. I’m better armed for that. Finally a reason to break into Alice’s leftover ziwipeak lamb. (I had only used 1 can in the case when she passed. I’ve been hiding it from myself so I don’t look at it. I couldn’t bring myself to sell it or donate it randomly yet.)

I miss you all. I miss this place. Frankly I’m weirdly glad to have a reason to post that is not just about my grief, and a reason to get back to furiously researching veterinary stuff. I wish it was for better reasons. But I miss what I spent the past two years doing for Alice.

...And the personal rambling is why this is an “off topic” post. :p

Post moved to Feline Health, where hopefully you'll get more eyes. You can post about more than sugar cats here.

Is there a veterinary school anywhere nearby? They might have clinics associated with it. When we went to Colorado State University, they had an entire section devoted to oncology. Neko saw a radiation oncologist.

I am sorry to hear about your friends cat :(.

Here is a link to the Board Certified Vet Oncologists in the Detroit area. You are also able to use the site to locate other specialists as well as needed :bighug:

Be well :bighug:.
