Bitsy dosing advice

Bitsy is in hospital right now due to pancreatitis and/or gastritis. Though she may be coming home today. They and I am hopeful. So I wanted to get a jump on dosing advice. I know I slacked and haven’t done a curve in a while and will do one once she is feeling a bit better. The vet is supposed to try and get one done while she is in hospital. Her numbers are in the chart. She has had times where I at night skipped a shot due to it being below 200 as I am not yet comfortable shooting below 200. And there has been times before that that I had personal issues pop up and I was unable to either give her her shot on time or at all. I did notate that sometimes but I could not remember the exact dates that occurred on. ( I slacked a didn’t input data in chart for a while; but caught chart up once she got sick) But it would be the dates she was highest in the morning. So any advice on where to start with dosing would be very helpful! Also she has lost weight from 12 pounds to just barely 7 pounds in about roughly two months. So there is that info as well.

Hope Bitsy's hospital stay is short and she has a smooth recovery. I can't advise to dosing but have you read the dosing method sticky? You may want to check it out and pick one of those as that may influence how those with more experience advise you on the actual dose.

Also, are you able to get a test or two mid-cycle during the day? I know people work out of the house but just curious. With that said, can you get a +2 and/or +3 during the PM cycle? Those tests can be very insightful (the same or lower as your preshot may indicate an active cycle where you may want to set an alarm for another test).

Lastly, do you know how to edit your title? If so, go under thread tools and pick the ? from the drop-down - this will help people scanning the board see that you have a question. Once your question is answered, you can take off the ?.

Hope that helps some - at the least, my comment will bump up your post :bighug:

Hi Debra :)

I hope Bitsy is doing better and able to come home today. For dosing advice, there are 2 dosing methods on here to choose from: Start Low, Go Slow; or Tight Regulation. Once you pick one, hopefully more experienced members will be able to offer suggestions.

I would imagine I follow the start slow go slow as I am not even fully sure what the right regulation is.
