It's been a long time since I've posted, everyone, but as always, I turn to you when my sugar kitty is having issues. I am 99.9% sure I know what her problem is. She's been OTJ for many years and is showing the following symptoms:
  • Constantly dialated pupils (sign of low sugar)
  • Loose stools
  • Eating double what she normally eats.
Given this and a big hatch of gross flies in her food can trash last week, I've come to my diagnosis.

My question is this: is the a online vet service who will prescribe dewormer sight unseen? Baby is 14 and hates cars more than anything. I'm afraid that a car ride will tip the balance she's in. So far no seizures, no low BS emergencies or symptoms. I don't want to change that if I don't have to.

I think they sell pet dewormer over the counter? I've definitely heard of Tractor Supply carrying it but it looks like commercial pet stores do as well. I always get mine from a mobile vet who doesn't care if the pet is present or not but that's not really the norm.

Flies aren't the same as worms. See if there are worm pieces in the poop. When I took in a cat with worms she pooped them. Some were still alive as gross as that is.

You might consider hyperthyroidism.

I'd also check kidneys and blood pressure.

Constantly dilated pupils is a symptom of hypertension, which can dangerous/fatal if left untreated. I would strongly recommend a vet appointment to check blood pressure.

You can get Pyrantel Pamoate on amazon. It treats roundworms and hookworms primarily. Be sure to do a 2nd dose 2 weeks after the first one to kill off any eggs that have hatched; the dewormer only kills adult worms, not eggs.

If your cat has tapeworms, you need to check and treat for fleas first. Tapeworms generally only happen from flea exposure; so if you don't get rid of the fleas, your cats will just get the tapeworms back.
