12/8/20 - Squeaky! AMPS 97 +1=120 +2=104, ......... PMPS 140 +2=137 +6=220

Nice AMPS! Surf safely, Squeaky :D
Excellent job shooting the full dose with that green AMPS.:D Way to go!
Good job shooting. I hope Squeaky surfs safely.

Thanks everybody for your cheerleading! It's happy!

Hey, Squeaky is having trouble pooping with his back legs being so weak. He basically sits on it and then it sticks to his fur and ends up falling off in different places in the house. Nothing I can do, right? He's on the Zobaline every day now.

The food bump starts after 20-30 minutes. That’s why food is picked up 2 hours in advance. It’s also why it’s suggested that your cat ‘s BG remain up for two hours without food before leaving him if lower than usual and especially at night if he tends to drop at night.

You are getting the kind of Lantus cycle it’s known for. Beautiful! I need to take a walk. Too much bad news on the FDMB today. I’ll check in later. He won’t drop low.

Getting Squeaky more regulated will also help his neuropathy. Today is a very good day for him (and you Jan). :D

Thank you both. Do I have to keep checking him every hour? Already, if I just look at him, he runs away. So many ear pricks today.

Way to go, Squeaky!!
Nice surfing today. :D
Job well done Squeaky!!!!!!!!

Wow you guys are the best, cheering us on like this! We definitely needed a day like this! Carla, glad to hear Furball had a good day, and wishing the same for everyone else.

So now I'm wondering, what happens tonight? A bounce or does this keep on, and I lose a lot of sleep? I wouldn't mind. Wednesday is an easy day.

We'll find out soon enough, but I think he's going to do a small bounce to around 300. Place your bets now :p

HAHA Bets!

Okay PMPS is 140. I wouldn't be surprised by a bounce, but maybe he will stay flat???? What are we betting? Money? Cat treats? Chocolate?

Do I have to get a 1 and 2? The guy's ears are holey like sponges already..... How about just a 2? Or a 2.5? or just a 3? Thanks.

I know it's nice to know the trends, but this is not fun for him.

He will probably bounce. But get a +2 nevertheless. When is he due for his next meal?

Hi Bhooma, 137. He's not bouncing. Next is +7?

He's just like, nervous that I'm going to pinch him again. On guard, on edge. And I'm absolutely so loving and sweet, so many pets, treats offered and refused.

Hi Jan, even one earlier - like +5 should be fine. Has he eaten anything at +2?

Hi Bhooma, 220 now at +6, starting to bounce! Thanks for caring for us, :bighug: we will sleep and check next time at AMPS.

PS I put some neosporin on his ears and cooked him up a little pork, and the world is better now. :)

You did great, Jan! I hope today gives you the confidence to shoot green pre-shots without skipping or giving token doses. :bighug:

Thanks Bhooma! Well that wasn't even the slightest bit challenging. He didn't go down in the 50s or even come close.

I suppose really low numbers are going to happen eventually, right? Where I will have to test every 30 minutes? How else (besides dropping below 50) can he earn reductions?

Also how do people do it when the cat's numbers are mostly green? I get fairly thrown by lack of sleep. It would be hard to do it night after night. And also monitor every hour day after day. Takes a fair amount of time and energy...... Not sure how this is going to happen either.

Jan, low numbers (50-99) are good for him. That's the normal range for a cat. Your aim is to get him into those numbers. And yes, that does involve quite a bit of testing and some sleepless nights.
When you can monitor you should shoot those green pre-shots. Every time you skip or shoot a BCS, you disrupt the depot and all the effort you have put in to get there.

Even if someone is not around at PS, you will find someone to hold your hand through the cycle. So JUST SHOOT! :-)

The other way to earn a reduction is to stay under 100 for a week. Once he gets regulated and you get the flat curves you won’t need to stay up or test as much.

Jan, I can tell you from my own experience with TR that it has been a lot of work but is the best decision I ever made. It requires a lot of testing and losing sleep, but the benefit is that she is regulated now and remission might be on the horizon. I'm happy to sacrifice some of my quality of life now for some long term good for Ruby. I would not be able to do TR if I had a job that kept me away from the house for 10-14 hours a day the way I used to before the pandemic. A lot of people have done TR with a full time job, but I would be too tired from working and commuting to be able to stay up at night to get her nadirs and do the feeding and testing required. I probably would have stuck with SLGS, and Ruby would have been fine--she probably would not be as well regulated as she is now, but she'd still be healthier and happier than she was when she was diagnosed. In a way, this virus has been a blessing so that I can nurse Ruby.

Thanks Gals for your comments. Yes if it weren't for the pandemic, I couldn't do this.

I'm concerned about Squeaky. I don't think he can tolerate getting his ear pricked all the time. Four times a day, that's okay. Plus to shots. Plus to buprenorphine doses which hurt his mouth. And once a day pilling. ...... He hates all of it. Tolerates it as best he can. But when we get to doing more than 4 ear pricks a day..... well, after yesterday he seems nervous, jittery. He runs if he think it's time for a BG test. And I'm following everyone's advice how to do it well, as best I can. My cat gets a full body massage almost every time before a test. Treats afterwards, etc.

I look at other people's spreadsheets and see they have tested 10 times or more in a cycle. Well we can't do that. It's obvious. He is too upset.

I can overcome my personal issues to do this, but Squeaky can't. Well, I mean, if I have to test him a lot. Hopefully we can figure this out. Test every 90 minutes instead of every hour.... etc. ?????
