Hello, it was suggested that I give Dolly a little mc at PMPS +2 if she is flat or lower to prevent those steep drops she sometimes gets at night. I was wondering if I can do the same at AMPS +2 if I need to be out of the house for an hour or two late morning and if she drops really low, under 60. Yesterday she dropped 140 points at +3.

Taking Dolly to the vet today, I actually saw her cough this morning, was never sure I would recognize a cough with Dolly she has so much congestion from her Sinusitis. She makes lots of different noises. It's been a whole month since she's been at the vet, I've been known to take her fairly often. I am concerned. Hope I am making sense o_O

Yes you can give her mc at +2 any cycle if dropping and you need to leave. It’s a good idea because big drops can trigger a bounce just as well as very low numbers. Let us know what the vet says. I hope it’s nothing.

Thank you for getting back to me so fast. I will let you know how she is, appt is 3:30. I am not happy with the vet experience now, curbside, need to be in there with her to explain. Oh well, this is our new world. She’s also going to want to know why I raised her insulin on my own. :)

Show her the ss. Smile and nod if she makes recommendations and then come back home and carry on. That’s what I would do anyway. My vet let me manage the diabetes so I never had that problem.

She knows I do my own thing with Dolly. She was out of the office for training a few weeks ago - maybe some diabetes training, I hope. She gets very annoyed with me, my ways, but we carry on when I need her help. :)

She won’t get to see my face, all over the phone. :) I’ll put a smile in my voice.

Tomorrow I have to leave for a dentist appt at 3.75, the worst time. My husband will be home but doesn’t test, he’s the injection pro. I will be gone probably 2 hours. Any suggestions if she has dropped or probably will drop, on food, how do people work and manage? Thanks for any thoughts.

Dolly is okay. Possible sinus infection. She said her lungs are clear. No temperature. Gave her an antibiotic that I need to look up. No more Covenia shots, she had so many in the past. She says, vet, gold standard would be CT Scan of the sinuses, I’ve put that on the back burner for now. The sinus problems came with her 7 years ago when we adopted her. Many, many med since. She had several special X-rays, Bollo being one, to look for polyps. I’m the only one that can hear all of the congestion she has. :banghead: Anyway, that’s the situation for now. Many vet visits, many tests. Specialist when it’s safe to actually talk face to face. It just hurts my heart when she makes those snorting sounds. I’m sure it bothers me more than her. :( Have a good evening. :bighug:

Hi Adrienne, nice cycle this AM. Did you try feeding some MC (11%) at +2? I would try that again tonight. Not too much - just a spoon or two to give her a small bump at onset.

Would test at +2 and feed some MC. I think this is safe to do every cycle for a few days and see how she fares. Get another test at +3.75 and feed again, if required. Her nadir seems to be around +5.

Glad to hear Dolly is okay! :-)

Yes I did give her the mc @+2. I will try that the next few days. Thank you for the help, for being there. I will be posting as usual. Take good care. :):cat:

Hi Bhooma, this morning when I gave her the 12% at+2, I didn’t test until +3. Tonight, I fed her a tsp + at +2 and didn’t test, I am just not thinking, so tired. So at 2.75 I tested her and of course this time she went up to 216. Nothing I can do now. I will test her at +3.5 and hope she comes down, just not too much and start over tomorrow morning. I am just not getting enough sleep. Hoping her number stabilizes to a decent range so I can go to bed.

Ideally, yes. When she is higher at +2 she is bouncing and doesn't need the leg up. But it's understandable that you may not be able to get a +2 in every cycle.
Could the 216 be totally food influenced and could she drop a lot during the night once the food wears off.

She’s feeling good suddenly, playing with her toys and grunting, she is so unpredictable, I want the impossible, promises that she will be fine :rolleyes:
Thanks again. Going to bed.

It could be food influenced. But considering she's at 216 at +3 and her nadir is +5, I don't expect her to drop to dangerous levels. I think she will be fine. :-)
