Tony AMPS 155

Sorry!! I seem to perpetually have tech issues with this forum. Maybe it’s because I’m using the phone app.
I wasn’t able to get a +2 because I had an appointment away from home. But I returned a bit ago and got a +6 .... he was 89. I gave him a few pieces of chicken snack. I’m hoping that’s his nadir.

I'm glad you reduced. Is it possible to get a test again in an hour to make sure he's holding steady? With SLGS, that 89 would earn a another reduction down to 1.5 units.

Do you know what level of CKD he has? KD isn't necessary for early stages, though it would be good to find him some food lower phosphorus than Fancy Feast. There are plenty of options out there.

Hi there. I can’t recall the stage per se, but he’s far enough along with CKD that his vets (he has a geriatric vet and an internist) both want him on KD and he also gets SubQ fluids once a week. It was twice a week, but he showed up with a heart murmur when the diabetes was diagnosed. I use a phosphate binder as well.
Which other diabetes friendly brands do folks like other than FF for lower phosphate? I’ve read about Young somethingorother but it’s a dry food?
He’s up to 150 now at +9.5.
Im thinking I shouldn’t reduce to 1.5 until I see how this 1.75 goes for a few cycles. If 89 is his nadir then that’s good.

Are you feeding any dry food? If so you would follow SLGS and reductions are earned if the bg falls under 90. If not and you choose to follow TR, reductions are taken for a bg under 50 if using a human meter and under 68 if using a pet meter. Your spreadsheet is for the pet meter, the AT, so when you can add it to your signature please.

The KD canned is very high in carbs. I would not follow TR because if he were to drop low you already are feeding a high carb food.

Sorry, I dont understand what you’re asking me to add to my signature. I have the link to my page there, as well as details on his condition and what he eats. He doesn’t eat dry food.

Which method are you going to follow? Have you had a chance to read the TR and SLGS dosing methods?
